The insights of my tour leader, May Ei, enhanced my visit to the night market. I had some difficulty finding the meeting spot, and she interacted with my Uber driver to get clarification. Once I arrived, we started with the Ciyou Temple (next door), and then made our way through the market. May made me feel comfortable in an environment that can be overwhelming. She also introduced me to a dessert that I never would have tried on my own. I had hoped to do more sampling of food items in the market, but many items are sold in large-ish portions. For this reason, a group of 2-3 people would be ideal for those wanting to share various dishes.

I had a wonderful time with May Ei! She met me at the station across from the temple and main entrance to the market. We went inside the temple and she explained how some things worked, such as burning the money for ancestors and what the burning incense meant in different parts of the temple. We walked down the full length of the market and she took me to places to eat. May Ei was very knowledgeable and she made me feel comfortable. I didn’t feel like I was rushed and my questions weren’t brushed off. She even went to the train station with me and made sure I got on the right train to get to the airport. I definitely recommend May Ei as a guide!

Great experience with Ruby!! Absolutely fantastic! We were able to walk around in about 2 hrs to be able to complete the entire walk.

I was able to go on the Raohe night market tour with May and despite the continuous rain we had an amazing time. It started off with me having a difficult time finding the official meeting spot and May was able to call me and navigate through a literal storm to find me and my partner so we could begin the tour or the market.
Then in the market May talked about how the market fit within her life, was able to talk about the dishes, and was friends with seemingly every vendor at the market. May even was able to somehow skip a couple lines at the market and gave many recommendations unrelated to the market entirely.
I would definitely do this tour again. I also liked that it was pay as you go food wise. The food is fairly inexpensive and having the flexibility between dishes is nice.

May is a wonderful and very helpful tour guide. She has excellent advice and is incredibly friendly and polite. A wonderful person with a great knowledge of Taiwan. I will book the tour again at any time and can only recommend it to anyone. An incomparable experience with a great tour guide. Vielen Dank May

This was the most wonderful couple of hours to enjoy the sights and smells and tastes of the Night Market. My Guide was May Ei, the sweetest human being who portrayed the passion for her country and it's heritage and flavors. She was so attentive, I would highly recommend this 'taste' of this vibrant cultural experience

Thank you Mavis for such a beautiful evening!! I absolutely recommend this tour to raohe night market. Mavis will suggest the best specialties and will talk about Taiwanese cuisine.
