This was an amazing tour and well worth the money. Our driver/guide was Derek and his commentary was very informative, funny and definitely unique! It was brilliant to be able to relax and just enjoy the wonderful scenery without having the responsibility of driving, especially on the Wrynose and Hardnott Passes. ( Excellent driving there, Derek, and 10 out of 10 for reversing skills too!) We went to parts of the Lakes I had not seen before and we had enough stops for photo opportunities along the route. I would suggest you might want to take drinks with you for the morning, as there is no available refreshment stop until lunch time.

A fantastic day out learning about the history of the Lake District.
Kevin our guide and driver was very knowledgeable and took us on some beautiful scenic routes.
We stopped at various locations to get some beautiful photos.
We even stopped at Muncaster Castle to watch a bird show which was possibly one of the best bird shows I’ve seen.
A great experience and highly recommended.

We had a fantastic day on the High Adventure Day tour. We were blessed with both perfect weather and a capable and professional driver. Duncan had a wealth of knowledge to share and was very accommodating and friendly. We wouldn't have liked to drive on those skinny, bendy roads so it was wonderful to sit back and let Duncan worry about the reversing, passing and steep gradients. The bus was pristine and the route chosen took us to some very scenic locations. We had adequate stops for photos and comfort and enjoyed every moment.

Our relatives invited us to join them celebrating their Golder Wedding Anniversary at Keswick and part of the weekend was a private ‘High Adventure’ tour of the northern Lake District by the Mountain Goat company. Driving around some of the highest (bendiest and twistiest) roads in Britain, our driver/guide: Duncan, gave us a brilliant day and shared lots and lots of fascinating facts about the route and area. An excellent day that’s also available as a public tour and is highly recommended.

What an excellent day out! We were collected at Keswick and then taken on a fascinating trip down the best lake district passes (Honister, Hardnott and Wrynose- passes we wouldn't have attempted on our own. We stopped off at the Honister Slate Mine for toilets and refreshments before travelling onto the Ravenglass steam railway and Muncaster Castle. We had an excellent driver/guide who told us lots of facts and answered all our questions- Highly recommended but beware the trip doesn't run during the winter months.

This really was the most enjoyable day. Kevin the driver / guide was the perfect host. Informative with the right balance of humour to lighten the day. His skill at navigating the high passes was very impressive. They are not for the faint hearted and are a challenge in the car but he made it look easy.
This tour takes in some of the most stunning and remote parts of the lakes. Plenty of opportunity for photos too.
Even better was the opportunity to ride on the superb Laal Ratty steam train and to see the spectacular bird of prey show at Muncaster Castle - all included in the tour price.
Would recommend to friends...definitely!

A wonderful day out. Know we had good weather but the service was excellent from booking the tickets to Mike's skillful, careful driving and attention to his passengers. We were well looked after and his commentary was very informative. We have been coming to the Lake District. for over 60 years but we learned quite a lot more. Pity we couldn't stretch the day to give a little more time at Muncaster Castle

We were spending 4 days in the Lake District and wanted a tour so we got to see as much as possible in the short time we had in the area. The staff in the Mountain Goat office in Windermere could not have been more helpful and certainly pulled out all the stops to ensure we got the best tour for us. Due to being fully booked they found us places on the High Adventure full day tour from Keswick, and even arranged for us to be picked up from our hotel in Grasmere as it was on the tour route.
The minibus arrived to pick us up at the time agreed, and our guide/driver, Malcolm, introduced himself and we set off, the first stop being the Gingerbread shop in Grasmere. Then we went off the main roads and up on the fells through Great and Little Langdale. Then on to Rydal Water and Elterwater before heading to the Wrynose Pass and the Hardknott Pass (seeing the Roman fort nearby). The views were amazing throughout, even though the weather wasn't great - we even got a glimpse of Scafell Pike through the clouds at Wastwater. Some of the roads are very steep and narrow but Malcolm negotiated them with no problem at all. Malcolm was extremely knowledgeable throughout and answered all our questions with ease. The information was delivered clearly and at a pace which kept our interest without making us feel overwhelmed by facts. The pace of the tour itself was just right, with plenty of stops for taking photos. Lunch was taken at a pub in Boot where they provided very nice meals delivered very quickly so we kept to time during the 45 minutes allowed for by the tour. Then we were off to Irton Road where we boarded a train on the Eskdale and Ravenglas Light Railway for a very pleasant trip to Ravenglas, where we were met by Malcolm and the minibus and taken to Muncaster Castle. We opted to watch the Bird of Prey Flying Display (one of the best we have seen) - even the rain couldn't dampen our enjoyment. We wished we'd had more time at Muncaster so we aim to go back one day soon. After that we were back on the minibus heading to Wastwater (definitely spectacular!) before the tour ended back in Keswick. As Malcolm had to take the minibus back to Windermere, he even took us back to our hotel!
We would thoroughly recommend this tour and the tour company - clean, comfortable minibuses, very professional staff, definitely worth the ticket price which includes the railway ticket and entry to Muncaster Castle.
