We had a great time on the street food tour! Angelo was our guide and he made the tour, giving us lots of tips on the local food, and also the local history which was very interesting. We will be revisiting the markets during our stay in Sicily to try some of the food again. Great experience and recommend this tour to others!!

Experiencia 100% recomendable. Nuestro guía Salvo nos mantuvo entretenidos durante toda la experiencia contándonos el origen e ingredientes de cada plato que degustamos además de hablarnos también de la historía de Palermo. Se nos hizo corto.

Excellent street food tour! Our group size was 11 and that is the biggest group you can be in. Was a good size for meeting the other people on the tour. Our guide was excellent. She was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Most importantly the food was delicious!

Palermo for a long weekend.
On arrival at Palermo airport look to the right for the kiosk Prestia E Comande this is to catch the bus to the city centre. 6euro one way per person - a shuttle bus to and from the city centre and airport. We returned to the airport from the first stop which is Palermo station, it’s bus stop 15 signposted (Via Fazella) the kiosk to purchase the bus ticket is opposite the bus stop, they open at 6am.
We stayed in an air bnb for two nights in the heart of the city, it was great but found the apartment a little cold - the weather rained intermittently for two days, this didn’t stop us but the pavements are extremely slippery when wet!!!!
On our first day we did the Steaty food walking tour. Our guide was Roberta she was awesome! We ate a lot! Food was delicious and she was very knowledgeable and good fun.
Our final night of three we stayed at NH Hotels the hotel was very comfortable surrounding streets a bit grubby, pretty much like Palermo and most other cities I’ve visited in Sicily, however felt safe at all times.
Walked from NH Hotels to Monte Pellegrino the big hill/mountain you can see with a red brick building on top. However when you walk up the mountain you do not arrive at the red brick building you go to Santa Rosalia, a church carved into the mountain. There is also a cafeteria there for refreshments and a toilet. Took about 2.5 hrs from the hotel to the top, a very long walk but rewarding and beautiful! You can get a bus up/down the 812, we also walked down so managed 42,000 steps that day 🤣
My first visit to Sicily was the east of the island - flew to Catania - very dirty wish we did not stay a night there. We hired a car. Taormina is stunning! Well worth a visit so is Syracuse and Noto.

This was such a great tour - we had Angelo leading the tour and Roberta was along too so she could learn from him.
It was one of our favourite food tours and we have done a lot around Europe. Angelo was a great guide. He is funny and really brought the tour to life for us.
Food was interesting and we tried things we would not have normally tried. Spleen sandwich is better than you would think.
The Arancini from the Capo Market was such a highlight. We came back the next day and had more. So so good.
Thank you Angelo and Roberta for such an entertaining tour. This was a Christmas gift from my sister and we have thanked her lots.

Rafa was so lovely and we enjoyed the tour very much! Highly recommend for travelers wanting to experience the markets. We had almost too much tasty food, and learning about the area and the culture of Palermo was a great experience.

Should be warm at least in 60’s but take a light jacket
Is there a vegan option or if not a vegetarian one? Don’t mind being with meat/fish eaters but wanted to understand if there were non meat or fish samples to try

Vegan no, but vegetarian exists. While booking you can indicate that preference to Streaty. I did so. I was also contacted via email about it to confirm.
And while I think that what I don't eat is my own "problem" and don't expect others to go out of their way to accommodate me, Streaty was more than ready to work with the limitations.
Meaning: I was ready to just skip the food I couldn't eat, but our guide was always ready with a meatless alternative.

I want to book a food/walking tour in October - I am working in the day for a couple of days and then free. Am I better to take a day tour when I am not working - or an evening tour (which I can do after work and save time!). I love food tours, but do not want to miss any experiences of markets, just because I picked the wrong one! Are there major differences between the two? Thank you.

Some of the items simply are gluten free. Tasting the wine, meat etc does not require eating a gluten part.

In Palermo street food samples are the following:
- arancina (boiled rice cooked with saffron stuffed with veal, onion, carrot and peas). Available in vegetarian version with mozzarella only
- fried potato croquette
- fries chickpea fritters
- baked pizza with tomato, onion and breadcrumbs
- sandwich with veal lung and spleen cooked in lard
- bread and olives
- glass of wine
- ice cream or cannoli
Even though Sicily is an island, traditional Palermitan street food doesn't involve any fish.
