As advertised. Mike has all the best spots picked out as you weave around the food and drink areas of Seoul. You will not be disappointed and surely you will be stuffed. Wide variety of foods and drink. The rice wine tasting was an unexpected treat. Our group was a lot of fun. Highly recommend!

A five-hour trip with lots of exciting food and drinks. The best food-tasting trip so far. Started at the food market and then continued to various small local places tucked away in small alleys. Can absolutely be recommended. Our guide did an excellent job, and with lots of knowledge.

Summary: Fun food tour with a very passionate (and particular with food) guide
Enjoyed my ~5h tour with Mike who took us on an adventure around Gwangjang market and around the Jongno 3 area. We sampled many dishes over the afternoon/evening and got an explanation about the history of the market and some of the stories of the food/stalls there. Mike has tried every single food stall in the market and is particular about saying which one is good vs not in his opinion. I appreciated that a lot and would recommend this to others!
As someone who isn’t a stranger to Korean food, this was fun because you sample less typical Korean food and things that aren’t as easy to find elsewhere. Among the many things we sampled: mung bean pancakes, “drug kimbap,” walnut cake, Korean beef tartare, octopus (raw and still moving), makgeolli, fried chicken, grilled beef heart, dried fish snack, etc.
Things that might be helpful to others:
- This is not the tour for you if you are not an adventurous eater or if you have many dietary restrictions
- Meeting point is at the exit of the subway station (on the outside/street side at the top of the stairs)
- Our group was 5 (smaller group) and we used 43k won per person so I would bring at least 50k won just in case
- There is an outdoor-ish stop in one of those roadside seating area restaurants near Jongno 3 so dress warmly in cold weather
- Booking sites like Airbnb or Viator take a cut out of Mike’s tour costs so better to book directly if you want to support a small business - I think his website is “It’s Seoul Good”

Mike was a great tour guide with a vast knowledge of Korean and other cuisine. He had very interesting insight into the food we were eating and food recommendations that I normally wouldn’t eat, that took me a bit out of my comfort zone. It was a great tour for anyone who wants to try some more traditional Korean food/ drinks but doesn’t know where to start!

Mike was an amazing tour guide and showed us some real gems in Seoul. We didn’t realize food wasn’t included, but honestly the tour was so great that we didn’t mind paying for the food. Mike is personable and gave us recommendations on more food to try on our trip! We always do a food tour while traveling in a new country but I think this one is def our top 3! Highly recommend

This is a MUST DO activity when in Seoul! Mike has thoughtfully selected unique local spots that not only cover a variety of dishes and drinks but also different venues (market, street food, bars, and restaurants). Mike doesn't select these locations based on fame alone but rather on the quality of the dishes. He explains what to look for and what the dish is supposed to taste like. We went in a small group of 6 people and were absolutely full after 5 hours of eating and drinking. Note that the price of the food is additional but this arrangement lets you eat as much or as little of any dish as you wish. You're going to want to try everything even after you're full. Mike is very knowledgeable about food (and specifically Korean drinks) and is happy to share his insights. He helped us with dining recommendations for our entire stay in Korea not only in Seoul but also in Busan and Jeju.

What a tour. Saw and ate all the things I was a little intimidated to normally eat as a tourist and I loved every single thing! Mike is extremely knowledgeable and was great at explaining what each dish was.
The Makgeolli tasting was the highlight for me. Highly recommend!

Mike is an amazing guide. His local knowledge of food and restaurants is incredible.
We spent 2 days with him seeing all the main sites of Seoul while eating our way thought the City.
He grew up in the USA, so his English is impeccable (better than mine). As an American in Seoul, you won't have to worry about "translation", and that takes a lot of stress out of your travels. He communicates very well in advance of the tour (email for us). We never felt unsure of what we were going to expect.
We ate great food and even experienced "cheese ice cream" for the first time together!
Mike keeps it fast paced and fun!

Mike is the perfect tour guide. Incredibly knowledgeable and a really fun guy. He knows all the best spots, and allows you to try an unbelievable amount of unique Korean food and drinks during the tour.

We met mike at the designated time and place and proceeded to tour a number of different eateries and places to try local drinks. We learned a lot and had a fabulous experience. We’ve been on a number of food tours around the globe and this one stands out for its comprehensive look at food and drink culture. It’s an excellent way to get to know korean culture!

Hello! my friend and I are interested in this tour but she is allergic to seafood/fish. Will we still have plenty to eat by avoiding seafood? or was this pretty heavy on the seafood?

it was about 50-50 between seafood and non-seafood. so there is plenty to eat and also the guide can make the apropriate accomodations for you. many places make sure to ask if you have any allergies so i think there is awareness to such issues

I was wondering if this is still a thing or if this is different now nowadays. Travel restrictions have just been lifted and I will be visiting in late April and would like to participate.

I can’t see why not. There are parts of the tour that involve alcohol, but she could obviously have a soft drink instead.
He’s a great communicator, so I’d recommend you get in touch with him. I’m sure he’d be able to let you know either way.
