This Sake tour was an easy train ride from Takayama. The tour guide was there to great us at the station and took us to a local Temple and one of Japan's earliest roads on our way to the Sake tour. Even outside of the Sake production season, the factory was still open to show us the different equipment and rice's that were used. The tour concluded with a tasting or many different Sakes from traditional to flavored. Sake cups were provided with purchase. A great selection of Sake was available and I learned a lot!

Dear Ashley, Thanks for coming and sharing your memory with us during the local sake tour. I am so glad to hear that you liked the experience so much. Surely, the sake you had and bought there was one of the best in Japan. As I told you, we have plenty of clear water from mountain, which enables us to make great rice. Hope you will come back to Japan one day soon. Thank you so much again. Warm Regards, Dai

My partner & I went on this tour and loved every moment of it.
Didn't expect to get to sample so many different types of sake at the end and I must admit I was quite toasted by the end of it.

Picked up both the mid tier bottle & premium bottle for the trip home and once everything is sorted again I plan to return to get more.

Dear Kieran, Thank you so much for writing a great review about the local sake experience with us! It reminds me of the day we spent together, and you were really drunk in the real sake brewery. Definitely I am happy to hear that you still want to drink them again. When you have a chance, you come back to Japan to grab tons of sake bottle which cannot be packed in your suitcase. Very nice meeting you. Hope we will see again. Warm Regards, Dai

A personalized tour of a sake brewery in a beautiful quiet town with our very knowledgeable and friendly guide Dai, was all that we hoped for in our admiration of Japanese craftsmanship in Japan. A very worthwhile tour.

Dear Fay, Thank you so much for joining us in the local sake brewery tour in Hida. I was also happy to show you around the small town and the traditional sake brewery. Sake is one of the most unique food culture in Japan. It must be worth learning, not only just tasting. This tour is surely an opportunity to tell the interesting story about sake for everyone. Hope you will find another favorite sake bottle in US or come back to Japan to get it. Thanks again. Warm Regards, Dai

The whole experience was fantastic. Dai was very informative about sake, the local region and the cultural issues in the region. The sake brewery and the local assistant gave a complete picture of the make of their style of Sake.
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting this area.

Dear Bruce, Thank you so much for a great review about the local sake tour. I was also happy to show you the details of sake in the real factory. As you thought during the tour, sake is very unique to make. Water, rice and Koji, those ingredients dramatically change the taste of sake, and there is no bottle of sake that has same flavor with another one. It might not be easy to get sake bottle in Australia (costs too much I guess) so now you are really missing the taste. Hope you will come back to Japan to find another favorite bottle and buy tons of sake here. Warm Regards, Dai

This is one of the most fun, educational, and interesting tours our family has been on. We were with our adult children and had an absolutely terrific time. Das is an amazing tour guide -- knowledgeable and very passionate about teaching us about the culture and history of the Takayama region. Highly, highly recommend!

Dear Michelle, Thank you so much for posting a lovely review about the local sake brewery tour. The day was one of the most memorable day for me since all of your family amazed things you saw and heard in a whole time of tour. I am also happy to see you learned a lot about sake during the tour and of course loved the taste. Surely proud of the time we spent together and I also appreciate your participation. Not easy for you to come back to Japan but I hope it will become. Wish you the best of luck! Warm Regards, Dai

It took a full day of travel to get to Takayama, but this tour was one of the main drawcards and I had high expectations. It didn't disappoint. Dai was friendly and personable, and made us feel warmly welcomed. The tour was small and intimate. Being in a small rural town, it felt all the more special. I'm grateful I had the chance to peek into a sake brewery and to be introduced to the intricacies of sake brewing.

The sake tasting at the end was generous, and I discovered wonderful new tastes in the various types of sake we tried. Luckily there's a shop on-site for you to take home your favourite sake!

Dear Angela, Thank you so much for posting a wonderful review of local sake experience. You seemed to be keen on Japanese culture especially on sake. Honored to show you around the sake brewery. As I told you during the tour, flavor of sake depends on main ingredients such as rice and water. So each region has its own flavor. Next time you visit Japan, you should try some of other sake bottles! Hope to see you again one day. Warm Regards, Dai

After experiencing Takayama and Kyoto in previous weeks, my partner and I found ourselves wondering why we had arrived at a comparatively tiny and small town wedged between the famous Gifu and Takayama. Upon waiting for Dai to meet us at the train station for a Sake Brewery tour and tasting session, we were prepared for the worst but we found our first impressions completely unwarranted as our friendly and well-spoken Japanese tour guide (fluent in English) proceeded to turn a seemingly lifeless small village of 1000 people into one of the most memorable experiences of our entire Japan trip. Dai is a knowledgeable gentleman whose passion for both Japan and foreign visitors is infectious. Whilst we only had the pleasure of enjoying Tenryo Sake Brewery with Dai over the course of an afternoon, we are sure that he will deliver the same experience, regardless of the place and activity; you will most certainly not regret it.

We look forward to returning in the region and participating in more of Umeseko tours with Dai in our next Japan trip!

Dear Iris & Donovan, Thank you so much for the lovely comment on our experience in the peaceful country town of Hida. I was so glad to see you and show you around the sake brewery with some tasting session. As I told you during the tour, sake (Nihonshu) is one of the most precious cultures in Japan. I and the sake brewery are so proud of it, which encourages us to spread it out abroad. In addition, it is worth understanding the background. Culturally profound enough to soak yourself in the world! Thanks again for your kindness. Enjoy savoring the sake in your home! Warm Regards, Daisuke

This tour is a must if you are interested in sake. Our guide Dai was very friendly and knowledgeable. I have learned so much about the different grades of sake and the brewing process. Sake breweries are very closely guarded places and this tour offered a rare glimpse inside one. The brewery is not big and they do a lot of things by hand which makes it more interesting.

Masa-san from the brewery who took us around was very friendly. The owner who stays on the premises also came and greet us before the tour. Highly recommended tour and throughly enjoyable.

The town is about an hour outside of Takayama so if is a full afternoon outing. However take note that sake is only brewed in the colder winter seasons. So the brewery might be quiet in the summer.

Dear Joaquim, Thanks for coming and posting a great review one the sake experience in a small country town. It was nice seeing you during your memorable trip in Japan. The questions you shoot us were really good. Some of those were hard to answer but appreciated you loved the Japanese sake so much. As you mention, not so many breweries show inside for visitors to keep it secret, and the best season to see a factory must be winter. Appreciate your kindness to share your tips for other travelers to join the tour. Hope to see you again one day. Warm Regards, Daisuke

Dear Kahu, Thank you so much for your kindness to post a review of the sake brewery visit we had in September. It was a great time with you. Not only the tour itself but also some chats about each own culture. Glad to see that you were pleased with the answers I gave you. I still need to develop myself but your kind comment definitely motivates me to do so. Hope you will have a chance to be back to Japan one day. See you again! Warm Regards, Daisuke

This is a great tour for anyone who is interested in the history of sake, its brewing process and the different classifications of it. The brewery itself is located in an atmospheric town near to Takayama, and our group happened to be lucky as this time of the year the brewery was getting busier with the brewing process. Our guide, Dai, was friendly, easy to talk to and very well informed about the topic. Also, the staff at the brewery was very kind and hospitable. Great experience and highly recommended to add to your travel agenda when you are visiting the area!

Dear Piia, Thank you so much for coming and writing a great review about the sake experience. Honored to show you around the real sake brewery to tell you the details about Japanese sake. Now you know how to brew sake and what makes taste difference, which you can find and drink your favorite sake at some Japanese restaurant. I am so happy you are currently proud of that. When you have a chance to come back to Japan, please explore some other region to find your best sake. Thanks again! Warm Regards, Daisuke
