犬や猫が主役になっているカフェはあちこちにありますが、ふくろうが主役というのは珍しいはずです。コーヒー一杯でふくろうと友達になれるのも一興でしょう。

お鷹の道の途中にある今流行りのフクロウカフェです。
店内にはケージに入ったフクロウや店先にはお鷹の道に因んでか、鷹までいます。

The owls were so cute and well cared for. The tea and takoyaki was the best I've ever had anywhere. The owner spoke excellent English and gave us great service. He cares for and grooms many of the owls from the other cafes so he knows what he is doing. I'm going again today.

ふくろうとふれあうには３００～５００円必要ですが、見ているだけでも十分楽しいです。お兄さんに聞けば何でも親切に教えてくれます。私はアイスティー１杯で２時間くらいいました。ふくろうを飼っているかたが、ふくろうをつれてきて、つめやくちばしを切るところを目の当たりにしました。ラッキーでした。

The place are small but still nice. Owls are well care and still able to fly. The staffs are nice and they passionate about animal also seem experience with owls. One on the staff speaks English very well. We can only pet one of them for like 10 minutes and allow to take pic with flash. But yeah I still feel bad for them though starring them from the glass room. But petting them was awesome experience. Oh they have toucan too!

Apparently, owl cafés are very popular in Japan. While this was our first experience at an owl café, it was both memorable and something we would definitely like to do again. The restaurant is small; tables seat about 10 and there are 2 seats against the glass window looking out at the owls in the front display. Reservations are recommended for several reasons: you will be guaranteed a seat and you can hold the owls on your arm and shoulder for free. Our reservation was for 1 hr 45 min and we enjoyed every minute. The waiter/owl trainer speaks fluent English and is a delight. The major food is curry and is excellent! As a special bonus, if you are visiting during hanami, there is a beautiful large cherry tree in the back that is a great photo opportunity. Another nicety is that an owl owner who bought an owl from the restaurant/owl owner, visited with his owl while we were there. Highly, highly recommended. There were more than 12 owls there when we visited. It's a pretty easy 15 walk from Kokubunji station. Follow google maps and it's essentially one left turn after you exit right from the south exit of the station, a straight downhill walk through a small alley, a right turn and you're there!

just visit there and enjoy talking to the owner and other visitors. Kokubunji is rich for fresh water so there are many creeks along with houses.

Not really much more than a café - and its in the middle of nowhere. However - we thought this was a gem if you are traveling with any age children (or just like owls) and also plan to visit the Ghibili museum. Its basically one or two stops past the stop for the Ghibili museum - so it is easy to combine. Really quiet and not crowded so you get a really good experience with the owls. Half the price of downtown Tokyo alternatives, and no wait at all. The alternative in Tokyo was to go to a place with really inconvenient hours - show up - get tickets for one or two hours later! Anyway - not much to say about the café itself - I wouldn't order more than a snack - but they had cold beer - which was great in the summer. About a 10 minute walk from the train station.

Japan has so many animal cafes, but this one stands out. Here, you can get up close with some owls.
We visited during golden week on a tuesday when they are normally closed (but was open because of golden week). We had read reviews that there is a massive line and sometimes a 2hr wait for a chance to sit down with the owls, but we arrived about 11:30am and we were the first ones in. By the time we left at 12:30, all tables were full but there was no line yet.
The owls were just beautiful. They had a vast range of owls you could choose from, but you couldn't hold them until you had finished your meal and drinks. Their set menu was a standard type of small Cafe style menu; cakes, coffees, cold drinks, etc. Portion sizes were quite good, and quite tasty. Coffee was a bit average, but you don't go to an owl cafe for a coffee, do you. Once you ate, the staff cleaned up the table and you could choose your owl. Prices ranged from ¥300 for a small one to ¥1000 for the largest ones. The small to medium owls were allowed to sit on your hand and shoulder (towels underneath), the large owls were only on your hand (your hand was protected by a glove).
Staff there were very friendly and welcoming, even spoke quite good English and were able to hold a conversation with us when we visited. They also had an English menu to choose from and English instructions on how to handle the owls.
Accessing the cafe was quite easy. Catch a Chuo rapid service to Kokubunji and walk about 7 mins from there through some quiet, peaceful, side streets.
The owls were quite friendly and the Cafe obviously took their safety and care as no1 priority. The owls looked quite well fed and healthy, altho some were quite sleepy.
If you are looking for something different to do that isn't petting cats in a cafe, i highly recommend visiting the Owl Cafe. :-)
