The church, originally from the seventeenth century but modified over the next century, is located on the square behind the pier and is the first element of some interest that strikes the visitor who disembarks in Marina di Salina. The façade, evidently recently restored, is small and overall simple, but is notable for the two-tone plasterwork (mustard yellow for the façade, white for the two linear side pilasters and the mixed-line stucco frame, which follows the course of the crowning above) and for the two symmetrical side bell towers, also characterized by the same white/mustard yellow two-tone, ending with a polygonal cusp surmounted by a cross and four smaller cusps at the corners; on each face of the bell towers then opens an ogival single window. Above, in the center of the crowning of the facade, stands a large iron spoked cross. Only entrance portal surmounted by a large window, both with stone frames and broken gables.
Interior with a single nave with two arches on each side that guard as many altars surmounted by paintings; apse presbytery with high altar surmounted by the eighteenth-century canvas of Santa Marina and four niches with statues arranged laterally. All the altars, canvases and statues are of modest artistic thickness; what is striking about this church is the fine and elegant stucco decoration that particularly affects the arches of the side arches, the triumphal arch, the entablature and the lower part of the vault. Decoration that also stands out for the brown/reddish color compared to the white of the color of the walls and the vault; also for the pilasters a beige color was used. Note then the wooden choir of the counterfaçade supported by two columns that have Doric capitals but ending in angel shapes and the floor in polychrome majolica, recently built but respecting the original eighteenth-century design.

Mediocre little church from the 1700s like thousands of others, vaguely Spanish-style, built in a baroque style that has nothing to do with the rustic architecture of the place. Tacky decorations, plaster on the facade falling apart unlike that of the wine shop next door, which is much more characteristic. You visit because you have to wait for the hydrofoil to arrive and the pier is right in front.

Appena sbarchi col traghetto al porto di Santa Marina di Salina te la ritrovi proprio davanti, è una piccola chiesetta in stile barocco, molto semplice all'interno e appariscente esternamente per il colore acceso giallo ocra.

Chiesa ben restaurata, è dedicata alla Martire Santa Marina, tant'è che pure il borgo si chiama Santa Marina. La storia della santa cristiana nata in asia risale al 725, rimase orfana di madre, il padre si ritirò in convento, così lei per stargli accanto escogitò di farsi passare per un ragazzo (era esile e si tagliò i capelli) per entrare in Convento e convincendo l'Abate diventò Frà Marino.La sventura volle che passò una notte in una locanda (era in peregrinaggio per raccogliere cibo) dove la titolare l'accusò di averla stuprata, così per non essere scoperta si addossò la colpa non sua.Venne cacciata dal convento ed allevò il bambino nato dallo stupro non suo, poi i monaci perdonarono il fatto e riammisero in convento dove mori e SOLO allora svestendo il corpo si accorsero che era una donna e che non poteva aver fatto lo stupro e che il figlio non era suo. Da allora venne venerata, prima sepolta in convento poi venne portata in Italia a Venezia......Una storia commovente che ispira l'amore verso il prossimo a qualsiasi costo.

Affacciata su una bella piazza ha una bella facciata con due campanili gemelli attorniati da pinnacoli, appena entrati sopra di noi si trova la controfacciata con la cantoria in legno molto bella . Sulla parete un grande dipinto significativo delle storia delle Eolie che raffigura il Cristo adirato che vuole scagliare fulmini su Lipari e a sinistra la Vegine nell’intento di arrestare il braccio del Figlio, con a destra San Bartolomeo che chiede pietà mostrando la sua pelle insanguinata, perché la tela vuole rappresentare l’evento del terremoto del 1693 che distrusse buona parte della Sicilia ma non arrivò miracolosamente alle Eolie. Molto bello e particolare il pavimento in ceramica di questa chiesa.

The Church of Maria Santissima Addolorata was built between 1882 and 1908. The building was remodeled in its current form between 1961 and 1965. On August 3, 2008, the rededication of the current church took place.

La Chiesetta accoglie con il suo profilo essenziale i visitatori del borgo di Santa Marina, che la scorgono già dal mare, dominando la piazzetta a due passi dall' approdo dei traghetti. L'interno ( piccolo ma luminoso) richiama il gusto barocco . Meraviglioso il pavimento di maiolica decorato.

Piccola chiesa a navata unica , facciata semplice con doppio campanile . Costruita nel diciassettesimo secolo è stata recentemente restaurata , molto bello il pavimento in maiolica che riprende il disegno originale del 700 . E' stato donato dai reali belgi .
