Me and my GF were there just a month ago and here is what we did (it was on Sat', but I don't think the day matters): - Wien Bahnhof (Vienna CENTRAL station, not the West station) - we went there and bought tickets (you can buy one way or return tickets) toPayerbach-Reichenau Bahnhof (train station), which is the closest town to Rax. You can buy the tickets at the machines, and there are 2 ways you can take the train - with no transfers all the to the town, or a different later train, but swap in the middle (in Wiener Neustadt) to the first train - either way, you get at the same time. We chose the first option (we don't like swaps). It took us 1.5 hours. These are the websites where you can also buy tickets ahead of time or just plan the route: tickets.oebb.at/en/ticket ahrplan.oebb.at/bin/query.exe/en - From Payerbach-Reichenau Bahnhof, there is a local bus which takes you to to the bottom of the cable car, you need to go to station "Hirschwang/Rax Raxseilbahn", bus number is 1748, and they sometimes are small 13 seat buses, so don't be confused. The train station is their first stop and its right next to the exit. It takes about 13 mins for the ride.
