An NGO that works for a good cause, reducing poverty in remote communities of East-Timor. With a team formed mainly by locals and incredible people, and the store is plenty of unique and exceptional Timorese artisanal products. My passage there was totally worth it.

Probably the most unique, hand crafted souvenirs you can find. A trip to Atauro is not complete without a visit to the Empreza Diak shop. They work directly with the artisans, and run a lot of initiatives in the community. Go say hi and buy something and support the good work.

When I went to East Timor, I had the opportunity to get to know Empreza Diak, and its new center at Ataúro island. The opportunity to understand more deeply the biggest challenges of a country, and its people. The challenges on the women empowerement and how to take the best out of what they have.
Giving work to so many people, and empowering the arts and crafts (amazing!) that they do so differently then I was used to see.
This is how you can make a difference in the world! Thank you all for your dedication and soul on your hands on approach, helping in getting things better! Thank you! Looking forward to go back and contribute also :)

A empreza Diak seja pela sua filosofia, produtos locais únicos e excelentes, e a sua excelente apresentação marcam-nos à partida. Mas o que faz com que nunca nos esqueçamos desta organização/ negócio é o que está por trás o apoio a pequenos artesãos que têm na empreza diak uma forma de transformar as suas tradições milenares em rendimento.
Um orgulho ter visitado está loja e todo o trabalho espectacular que têm por trás.

The best place in Atauro to find traditional and innovative Timorese crafts - Support Local Artisans

Empreza Diak is a must go when you visit Beloi- it's not just underwater that Ataúro is bright and colorful, when you come into the Empreza Diak store the pink, blue and purple of the crafts immediately stand out. And then we discover the amazing works from local artisans of this island. In this place you can find works from all over the island - artisans use this products for their own use and as a form of subsistence.
I had the opportunity to make community visits with the Empreza Diak's Team, and it was one of the best experiences I had. While visiting communities from all over the island, I saw their traditions, the way they make their products and the importance of Empreza Diak for giving them formations and being the bridge between the artisans and the consumer that they can't find in their daily life.
I was able to see the faces behind each basket, pottery, and plate. The stories they tell and the commitment they put in each peace. They don´t use machinery, all of the crafts are made with resources that nature gives and with their own hands.
Therefore all the products are sustainable and don't harm the planet in any way possible. Here we buy consciously, for the people and for the planet.
Behind all of the products of this store, there is a person or a family that we are helping by supporting there amazing work!
You will not regret visiting this place, when I look back to the photos, the only thing I regret is not taking more of this amazing craft works with me, I bet you will feel the same ;)

Um prazer conhecer e visitar este centro logo no seu inicio. Produtos artesanais que apoiam a população e mais que tudo expressam a cultura e tradição timorense.
