Square with the statue of Cristovan Colombo and the Cathedral. It is common for guides to offer a walking tour of the region. It costs around USD 40, but I don't consider it necessary, as the region of interest is very concentrated. It is possible to park on the streets, but they are narrow and many of them are being revitalized

Columbus Park (Parque Colón) is the main square of the Ciudad Colonial historic district (Zona Colonial) in Santo Domingo. The central square is notable for its historic monuments and buildings, particularly the statue of Christopher Columbus at its heart.
The square is at the start of Calle del Conde, the city’s most notable street, and is a great starting point for exploring Zona Colonial and its historic buildings. It is one of the most popular squares in Santo Domingo. One of the plaza’s main draws is its wide-open view, with the Alcázar de Colón palace as a backdrop.
All around are cafés and bistros with outdoor seating offering an uninterrupted view of the square. The square lies at the end of Calle Las Damas, the New World's oldest paved street.
Surrounded by historic buildings, restaurants, and cafés, with a large statue of Christopher Columbus in the center, the paved open square of Columbus Park is a popular gathering spot for locals and tourists.

Columbus Park is centrally located in the old town of Santo Domingo near the cathedral and has only been called that since 1887 - before that it was Plaza Mayor. In the center is a statue of Columbus.

This is really just the square in front of the cathedral with a statue, lots of trees, seating and pigeons! There are restaurants along one side with outside seating (reasonably priced), the chu chu train leaves from here but you have to put up with being pestered by guitar players and groups with bongo drums!

Core reason for place is the statue but is now surrounded by pigeons, large school children groups and sellers and buskers and bands etc
Needs a thorough clean.
Shame the statue of Columbus isn't the focus of this place anymore...plaque could do with a fresh coat of paint too.

7 3 7:51 estoy sentado en un banco con las palomas en el extenso parque de frente la estatua del navegante según la historia genovés total un italiano al servicio de españoles y la que formaron un auténtico show las heridas no se cierran o la expresión las guerras nunca acaban de todo este triste asunto está el español como idioma y parte de su cultura pues en el caso de republica dominicana está el descendiente del indio tahino el negro y lo que llamó la pequeña francia en la isla de la española haiti esto su chispa de humor el parque tiene sus árboles un buen lugar para descansar y simplemente recordar el pasado saludos

Es un placer responder a su pregunta. No tiene ningun costo el disfrutar de este hermoso parque, donde tambien puede disfrutar de una visita a la 1ra. Catedral de America situada en este Parque y totalmente gratis.
