Highly recommend doing a massage right when you enter the port! Was a wonderful massage and very reasonably priced! The drinks at Taino Bay pool were weak and expensive. It was a great day though. Enjoyed the lazy river and Cantinas food.

Girls pushing skin care products along the pathways are relentlessly bullying and downright rude to tourists, calling after them in a threatening way after visitors polite acknowledge them and say “no, thank you.” Considering this “village” is specifically designed for tourists from the ships, who must walk through the village to get to the old town, why is it ok for locals to be so resentful and angry at our arrival and patronage?

Enjoyed the lazy river and cabanas -no extra charge . Did the surf experience but fasten your bathing suit - water is a rush . Nice cigar shops and food options . Walking distance from cruise ship terminal .

Our first time at this cruise port! The first thing I noticed was how clean everything was! It’s also easy to navigate. The shops and restaurants are plentiful. A nice pool and lazy river. Definitely kid friendly! If you have time visit the city of Puerto plata it’s about a 5 minute walk from port. Taxis are available!

Puerto Plata Dominican Republic was one of the ports of calls on our Thanksgiving Cruise with Royal Caribbean on Serenade of the Seas. My mom and I were pleasantly surprised by Taino Bay, Puerto Plata. We pretty much stayed in this general area since we didn't have any excursions booked through the cruise line. This area was very nice, neat and clean. The people in the shops weren't pushy at all and they were very friendly. My mom and I are looking forward to heading there again soon. This is a definite recommend if you are look for something nice to do without going too far from once you get off the ships.

Nice set up to be off the ship. This was set up with lazy river, food, bars, shopping. Bathhouse restrooms were clean, well lit place to change. There are a number of souvenir shops a couple pharmacy and food /drink options.

Taino Bay Puerto Plata
- A wonderful surprise and great experience!!
:: While on a 4 Night cruise on MSC magnifica this port was used in lieu of two ports that we had to skip because of Hurricane Milton. This was an amazing surprise; I didn't expect it to be so big and so busy and so fun and any negative reviews are just petty. There was a lot to do; a lot to eat; a lot to drink and if I had known there was a water park I would have brought my swimming trunks. I enjoyed the birdcage and I specially enjoyed Monkey Island with the cute little soft Spider Monkeys. You HAVE to do that. I didn't get a chance to do the water tubes, but next time I visit, I'll definitely do that and enjoy more of the port. Nowhere near as touristy as people say, it's just a fun water park resort for a whole family. The shops are pretty good and they're not pushy, it was hot so the coconut drinks were awesome. The restaurant Cantina Latina was a bit expensive, but the food was awesome and I enjoyed it.

We visited Taino Bay during our RCI cruise, and it was our first port of call. Our original plan was to take the cable car up to Pico Isabel de Torres, but upon arrival, we learned that it hadn’t been operational for several months. Not wanting to miss out on the day, we decided to spend our time at the Taino Bay Pool & Lazy River, and we were pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable our experience turned out to be.
The Taino Bay area felt very safe, as it was primarily filled with fellow cruise passengers, which created a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Our kids absolutely loved the pools and the lazy river; they had a blast splashing around. Before we knew it, six hours had flown by, and it was time to head back to the ship!
The selection of shops, bars, and dining options was quite good. We appreciated that the staff at these establishments weren’t overly pushy, allowing us to browse and enjoy the environment at our own pace.
WIFI is free whilst visiting however you have to obtain the code from a bar/shop for some reason. Likely to guilt you into buying something at the same time. This makes it quite tricky & awkward but it can be done.
If you’re visiting on a cruise and feeling the pressure to organize an excursion, I would recommend just embracing the port atmosphere. The pools, bars, and even hammocks in the water provide plenty of relaxation and enjoyment without the need for extensive planning. Overall, our day at Taino Bay was a fantastic way to start our cruise adventure, and we would happily return on a future trip!
It's clear that a lot of money has been spent developing this area and they have done a good job.

Amazing place!! Employees are nice, it's very lively and clean. Food was good. Drinks were a little weak but tasted great.

The dock area is very nice. Many nice shops. There are restaurants and bars and a really nice pool.

Hi. We will be arriving feb 27 on the Celebrity Equinox. Can you tell me exactly what is free ? Do we need to pay for drinks n food or is it all inclusive of the ship ?
