The museum extends over four floors and is divided into as many macro areas which make the visit not only extremely interesting (finally something different), but also varied in the right way, so that you can spend a couple of hours without running the risk to get tired or bored.
It's a shame we couldn't visit the terrace with the bonsai due to rain.
Backpacks should be left in the storage room.
The museum is very little frequented, so much so that it can be visited practically alone; therefore I strongly advise against purchasing tickets online (with the €1 surcharge).

Enchanting place to get lost among different cultures. On the first floor the secrets of China, and on the second we find Japan, going further up the Himalayas and then the colors of Islam! Truly wonderful to have a place like this in the city! To be seen!!

Museum suitable for those approaching the Asian continent for the first time having a rather large artistic collection.
Being tight with the times, I limited myself to a quick tour but I will return for a more in-depth visit.

A visit to the MAO in Turin is always interesting, this time even more so with the new layout of the Japanese area with works by the artist Kazuko Miyamoto. The temporary exhibition "Traditions of Eurasia" and the collection of centenary Bonsai are beautiful. It is a museum that is always on the move, which is why it is worth a new visit periodically. One flaw, the beautiful Japanese Katanas which are always very popular are no longer on display.

The MAO Museum of Oriental Art is a small, fairly compact but complete museum on three floors of artistic expressions in the East, especially statuary and ceramics from China, Tibet and Japan. The compact space does not allow for an exhaustive quantity of materials but the historical picture is quite complete. The Japanese armor and a Zen garden at the entrance are very interesting.

We went to the Buddha 10 exhibition which we found very interesting even if we expected it to be a little bigger, with an addition of a few € we got the ticket to visit another 4 floors of museums in different Asian areas, all very interesting, with beautiful pieces. Recommended for those who like the East and Asian religions.

I booked a free ticket as I had the Torino pass - the only free time slot was 10am and I was the first person there at 10:05 am.
I was pleasantly surprised to find out the special exhibition was included with my pass. The special exhibition was very interesting and very well done.
The museum on the whole is fantastic and the range of items although specific is extensive collection from across multiple cultures.
The signage is in english and in italian, the staff in the rooms spoke little english but nothing that google translate couldn’t assist with. The secondary star is the house that house itself which has some wonderful painted walls and ceiling and a fantastic original wooden floor in some rooms.
I would recommend 1.5 hours -2 hours (with special exhibition) as it’s bigger than it looks and it’s over 4 floors.

Ospitato in un palazzo storico in pieno centro, il museo d’Arte Orientale rappresenta uno dei musei tematici più rilevanti in Italia. L’esposizione occupa i quattro piani del palazzo ed è suddivisa in cinque sezioni, Sudest Asiatico, Cinese, Giapponese, Himalayana e dei paesi Islamici. Sia per quanto riguarda le collezioni permanenti che le mostre temporanee, generalmente ospitate nello spazio al piano terreno, direi che si tratta di un’esposizione di assoluto rilievo che merita sicuramente di essere visitata. Il biglietto intero ha un costo di 10 €, gratuito per i possessori di abbonamento musei Piemonte. Come tempo di visita va considerata un’ora abbondante.

È previsto l’ingresso gratuito per i docenti con opportuna certificazione? Non riesco a trovare questa informazione sul sito, in cui si parla solo di docenti accompagnatori di scolaresche, io invece andrei privatamente, non con la scuola.

È previsto l’ingresso gratuito per i docenti con opportuna certificazione? Non riesco a trovare questa informazione sul sito, in cui si parla solo di docenti accompagnatori di scolaresche, io invece andrei privatamente, non con la scuola.

Nessuna riduzione per i docenti. Io e mia moglie lo siamo. Nemmeno la possibilità di usare il buono scuola. Unica riduzione l'abbiamo avuta con la tessera ARCI.
