Baroque church, which is constructed like a theatre room and is obviously also used for performances. I could not see anything spectacular, there is a flood of churches to go to in Palermo. Staff at checkout rather disinterested.

This church on Corso Vittorio Emanuele hasn't been open on previous visits to Palermo but it was worth a look. You do have to pay to enter - I can't remember how much. It is an elliptical shape and was badly damaged in the 1943 bombings but has undergone complete renovation. The altar that was once opposite the entrance is now at the side and the building also functions as an auditorium as well as a church. Beautiful stucco artwork and a partial fresco on the domed ceiling. Worth a visit.

In a very central position, a few steps from the Quattro Canti, the particular elliptical shape makes it one of the most curious churches in Palermo.
On the walls there are notable marble stuccos and frescoes. The dome, following the bombings of World War II, was unfortunately damaged.
Being used as an auditorium, seats and seating make it more similar to a theater than a church.
Don't miss the climb to the dome, which is accessed from the outside.
The panorama enjoyed from the summit is excellent.
It is part of the sacred circuit, entrance to the church plus dome costs €4 to those who have a ticket for another church belonging to the circuit.

It has a baroque style façade. The original construction was renovated in 1528 and rebuilt in the year 1700, its origin being much older than its appearance seems. It is used as an auditorium and projection room. Unfortunately we did not enter because they charged entry.

I didn't visit the interior of the church, but I went up to the dome which offers absolutely magnificent 360° views of Palermo. For me it is the most beautiful place to enjoy beautiful views of the city. There are much fewer people than at the cathedral and entry is cheaper.

Among the most beautiful and original places in Palermo. The visit begins with the lower part of the structure reserved for the place of worship which, unlike other religious buildings typical of Catholic Christian culture, sees the altar arranged in a lateral position for a structure that defines it as the "Theater Church". The audience is arranged in a semicircle and the setting also recalls the style of classical theatres.
Leaving the church you enter the side street where you can visit the dome following a challenging path between stairs and narrow passages. The effort and efforts are rewarded by the view of Palermo and what surrounds the structure.

A resident of Palermo who wants to enter this church for a prayer and has to pay the ticket, those who are responsible for welcoming visitors cannot be accepted, they should stand between the tourist and the citizen who lives in Palermo

Piccolo gioiello architettonico di Palermo risalente al 1072 e destinata alle Suore basiliane. A renderla unica, poi, sono la sua forma ellittica e la cupola ovoidale; queste ultime particolarità le regalano un'acustica straordinaria, tanto che oggi questa chiesa, oltre ovviamente alle funzioni liturgiche, è ampiamente usata come auditorium. L'aspetto barocco spettacolare di oggi risale al 1682, quando le suore vollero rimaneggiare notevolmente l'aspetto normanno e conferirgli l'attuale aspetto, ed affidarono i lavori al gesuita Paolo Amato, architetto. Colpisce il fasto interno, interamente decorato con affreschi, stucchi e marmi policromi. Da non perdere, visto che si trova sul centralissimo Corso Vittorio Emanuele, non a caso è considerata una delle Sette meraviglie di Palermo Ingresso a pagamento (€2.50), ma li vale tutti. Possibilità di salire sulla spettacolare Cupola Panoramica

The "Chiesa del Santissimo Salvatore" (Church of the Most Holy Saviour) is quite unusual in its form, an elongated dodecagon. It was built originally in 1528, and it was damaged several times by earthquakes and during WW II.
The current church was reconstructed after WW II, using remains of the former decoration. It is characterized by a predominance of color white.
