Absolutnie wspaniałe!! Warte każdej złotówki! Można tam spędzić wspaniale czas! A do tego film dokumentalny emitowany o wskazanych godzinach-ekstra sprawa. Audioprzewodnik online w wielu językach
W tym w PL. Odtwarza się na telefonie z pomocą kodu QR. Genialne! Nie da się tego porównać do niczego. Tam trzeba być.

Wertvolle Vorbereitung für Whale Watching

Der besondere Wert dieses Museums besteht darin, sich der tatsächlichen Größe von Walen, Delfinen und Tümmlern in Ruhe bewusst werden zu können. Die lebensechten Modelle in tatsächlicher Größe ermöglichen dies weil kein Wasser die Sicht versperrt und keine Bewegung ablenkt.

Im Hintergrund des Museums befindet sich zudem ein Kino mit wechselnden Filmen wie z.B. in meinem Fall sher aufschlussreich, wie sehr die Menschheit mit ihren Schiffen die Meere mit Lärm beschallt.

Der Souvenirshop bietet Walfans zudem viel Auswahl.

Whale awareness!

We thought the place was really interesting with and we learnt a lot about the variety of whales. We were awakened to the impact sonar (particularly by the Americans) has on the whales and were saddened by this. However, the museum neglected to mention that Iceland, together with Norway and Japan, still hunt these beautiful creatures, despite global backlash. The permit to do so ends at the end of 2023 and I only hope that the rulings are revised as these animals experience so much suffering in the slaughter. Svandis Svavarsdottir is the person to campaign to and I believe she is interested in changing the traditional ways.

Nothing special
Nothing special. The setup was poor, information screens poorly located and a couple of them did not work. Little effort in information signs as well. The building needs maintenance, such as the toilets and everything… Spend your money on a real whale watching tour instead.

So much more fun than expected

We had expected very little, but were positively surprised. It was very informative and the real-life-sized whales were impressive. Nice coffee corner. This is great for children!

Impressive Displays

I used my Reykjavik City Card and got an admission discount of 30%. I was impressed with the 23 life-size models of various species of whales. You do get an appreciation of the large size of these creatures. You can download a free audio guide onto your phone. Make sure you bring earbuds. There are also free live guided tours at 1100 hr and 1500 hr. You are allowed to touch the displays. There is a theatre inside playing the award-winning documentary, Sonic Sea. There is small café located by the displays. The inside of the display area is bathed in a blue light. There is also a gift shop inside.

Quite impressive, just about worth the price with kids
The kids liked the climbing frame and the colouring books, they were sort of impressed with the whales but not as much as they should have been. The sheer size of the models is impressive and overall the effort gone to creating this museum is commendable. I would say if you have young kids and need to kill an hour in Reykjavik then this is probably just about worth the cost.

Don’t waste your money!
Absolute waste of money !!! 30 minutes spent there total
DON’T waste your money !! Absolute rip off.
Spoke to a member of staff about how disappointing it was and was told politely that Iceland is an expensive country!
