We often hear and read of malls, office buildings, restaurants where safety is not a priority and I was shocked to experience one myself in a high end shopping mall adjacent to the Hyatt Regency at Wuyuanwan in Xiamen.
A group of us went for a movie at the so-called Oscar Cinema in the Shopping Mall adjacent to the Hyatt Regency Xiamen. Its a very well kept cinema located in an upper upscale shopping mall.
I was horrified that when we finished the movie at around 11pm, all the emergency exits which are clearly marked are padlocked leaving only the lift you can take to go down to the car park.
The main entrance is blocked with signboards bombarding you with new movies going to be released and there is no way you can escape.
In the event there is a fire or an emergency, your safety would definitely be compromised. I do hope the Management review the safety and security of all their valued guests.
It is a time bomb waiting to explode. If there is a stampede, many patrons would be seriously injured and potentially fatal.
