I would not recommend AC escape room service to anyone. They are focused on selling, not on providing a good experience.
My 9-year-old son is in a gifted program, and we decided to give him an escape room as a gift. Administrator recommended a room for children that and said that it's suitable even for young children.
It turned out not to be the case. The room was very difficult, and my son was unable to solve a single puzzle. He was very disappointed and lost confidence in himself.
The staff said that we could have solved the puzzles for him, but that would have been unfair. We wasted an hour, and had no results to show for it.
We paid $90 for two people, and it was a waste of money. We are disappointed with the service and will not recommend it to anyone.
Conclusion:
The service is focused on selling, not on providing a good experience. The appropriate room was simply occupied.
Here are a few tips for parents who are planning to visit this room:
Do not trust recommendations from staff if they seem too good to be true.
If you see that the room is too difficult for your child, do not be afraid to refuse to play.

We are so disheartened to read this feedback. We reviewed our lobby and game footage of your experience with us, and our lobby host did recommend our Boardwalk escape room, the room we deem most appropriate for children younger than our recommended age of 13. Your 9 year old son, with your encouragement, chose our second hardest escape room, the Poker Room. While in the room, your Game Master had difficulty with your needs as you and your son were speaking a foreign language (Russian?). Knowing specifically how you were thinking and the lack of ability to sense your frustration, the language barrier made it very, very challenging for your Game Master to tailor your hints. We are extremely focused on fun and providing a good time, so we really do apologize for your poor experience. Our family had an incredible time at the Escape Room inside Tropicana! With my husband and two kids, we embarked on a thrilling hour-long adventure in the Boardwalk room. It was filled with themed puzzles and some surprises! The attention to detail and immersion made it an unforgettable experience. Visiting Atlantic City? Go check out Escape AC for a fun and different family outing.

The location is not findable on Google maps and when I called the location to clarify which side of the Tropicana I could find them on, the receptionist told me she couldn’t direct me because I was on the street and she was inside. It made no sense and when we finally found the location thanks to another worker at another business in the hotel, the escape room worker continued to dismiss the validity of my wanting directions to find where she worked.
She gave a poor and haphazard introduction to the room and was determined to insult my intelligence for having the audacity to ask questions about the games as a paying customer. I would describe this behaviour as abusive and had my partner not been so forgiving, we would’ve left immediately. The games themselves were pretty disappointing.
Worst escape room I’ve ever been to. Very clearly a money-grab and nothing more. AC deserves better as it rebuilds itself and clearly doesn’t treat its workers very well for them to be so needlessly hard and cold to patrons who paid over $40 each to participate.

The employees are the best. They do give hints too! We almost got out. Just needed last clue. It is so interesting. Make sure you read the clues carefully. Think out of the box!

We did the Boardwalk themed room at EscapeAC which was so well themed and a fantastic room, except for the fact there’s a stupid crappy ring toss game that’s nigh-on impossible to do and it took one of our players nearly the whole game just to do it… there were only 2 of us, meaning I was left most of the time to try and solve the rest of the room!! I guess some folks like games that are luck rather than skill (especially casino-goers) but I did find it frustrating. Didn’t spoil our fun though. The room is brilliant and larger teams who can spare a player wouldn’t find it so much of an issue, but for small teams maybe that one little bit of the game needs a rethink!! Our host was great (Paul) and deserves a huge pay rise for having to listen to every swear word imaginable!!
Aside from that, the game is located right inside Tropicana casino, which I wouldn’t recommend for anyone who values their lungs, as they don’t seem to have any effective smoking policies there. The escape room itself though was clean and fresh and provided a bit of respite from the crazy. I’d go back and do the other rooms next time we’re in the area, as it was very good.
