An extraordinary half day sightseeing tour of Dili. Would highly recommend Jonias and Timor Indigenous Tours. Excellent vehicle, prompt replies to queries and excellent communication. Jonias provided deep insight into the history of this beautiful country from lived experience. We felt very honoured that he shared his stories with us.

What an amazing trip to Timor Leste made extra special because of Jonias and the crew at Timor Indigenous Tours. Jonias’ knowledge of the history of his country is extensive as is his expertise in showing us the beauty of this emerging nation. The highlight was travelling in 4wd’s over the mountains from Cova Lima to Balibo - an unforgettable experience.

Jonias and his team conducted a very interesting Rotary study tour that we thoroughly enjoyed. Their knowledge and assistance was much appreciated. They were wonderful ambassadors of their organisation and Timor Leste

Jonias and his Timor Indigenous Tours team are excellent ambassadors for Timor Lesté. They're all local folk who know their country well. I went with a Rotary group that's been helping with some restorative project work over recent years around this newly democratic country. Jonias is a Rotarian in the vigorous Dil Lafaek Club and it shows in his honest, conscientious approach. There is much history to absorb here and I'm sure Jonias could design an excellent tour to suit your needs.
Our hotels, restaurants and transport were all well chosen and every need was met. It isn't Las Vegas (for which I'm thankful) but Timor's tourism is beginning to emerge and your visit will help. The Timorese are lovely, there are beautiful sunsets, beaches, mountains and much to see in this youthful country. Despite its unhappy history, restoration is well underway and the Timorese are energetic, resilient people. It's a bit like Bali 30 years ago but with a quarter of Bali's traffic, no hawkers and a peace-loving people, perhaps like a Catholic version of the Buddhist Balinese.
After 400 years as a Portuguese colony, Timor Leste reluctantly endured 24 years of Indonesian occupation before emerging into 22 years of more recent independence. New hotels are being built, roads are being restored and the north coast from Dili offers comfortable touring options with more adventure possible when you head into the mountains of the interior.
I've travelled the world extensively but this was my first time to Timor Lesté visit. I now plan to come back soon, bringing some other friends to enjoy it. There's much to see and understand with one of Australia's closest neighbours. Over time, it may become the Bali of the future for nearby Aussies. Book yourself in.

A very insightful and entertaining trip.
With such wonderful guides who not only showed some amazing sights but also took the time explain Timor Leste’s enthralling history. I fully recommend this professional yet personal tour organization to anyone.

We came back from our trip to Timor-Leste a few days ago, and we are still sorting out all the pictures and memories.
It was a wonderful trip in every sense of the word. We organised a 17 person Rotary Study Tour of Timor-Leste from the north to south coasts, and then over the mountainous western backbone of the country to Balibo.
Jonias and his team seamlessly worked in tourist sights such as a resistance village, coffee & productive tree farm, and a sacred house, with meeting and seeing Rotary projects of the recent past and possible future.
Absolutely everything worked perfectly. There wasn't anything that wasn't under your control in and around Dili, with the history, culture and important sights all included. Kirsti especially enjoyed Aloha Esperansa and watching the ladies make and sell woven textiles. I enjoyed the hike up to Christo Rey with a coconut drink on the beach afterwards, and Ron enjoyed the Resistance Museum which shared your powerful stories.
We all needed to be flexible with unexpected road conditions after a long wet season, but we did so with humour and a sense of adventure. We had no issues with accommodations, some were expectedly basic but clean in the remote mountain regions. The transportation, excursions. drivers and guides were all terrific. Food was authentic and enjoyable, and I especially enjoyed the lunch in the pousada near Aileu.
Maybe what surprised the group the most was the amazing warm village reception we received at Louki faho in Covalima District to view a possible water project; the awesomeness of the views on the remote mountain ridge road (we reached 1500 metres high....wow); and the spendour of our last night in the more remote areas staying in the extra special Balibo Fort accommodation. That was also my birthday, so very, very special indeed.
We saw amazing sunsets and monkeys walking across mountain roads right in front of the cars.. Amazing… simply amazing.
Thank you very much for your help in organizing this trip for us. Past District Governor Ron and I knew that taking 15 first-timers with us to Timor-Leste would be a lot to plan for, but Jonias made it easy. Nothing was a hassle or impossible, and they were proud to share their country with us. Having you take care of each leg of the trip was just great. You gave terrific service and quick responses to all our e-mails before the trip. You were able to be flexible during the journey, and nothing ever seemed a hassle. We saw and experienced so much.

Booked a One Day Tour and got Jonias as our driver/ Tour Guide. I felt like a member of his family all day. He was so informative and introduced us to the locals and even his family. He made the trip so personal and taught us much about the culture and rich histories including the hardship of liberating the country. The coffee plantation of Dili Vanilli was an exceptional place to break for lunch. Again, felt like family at this stop and the food was the best we tasted on this trip. Five out of Five Stars
