I walked in on a whim, never having heard of the place. The compound, a former museum under Indonesian rule, is dotted with fascinating sculptures and splashed with murals, making it a great place to simply wander around. The highlight, however, is the back building, where the artists in residence spend their time. You're sure to find a few of them hanging out and, if you're willing to spend a while chatting, they'll be glad to answer questions and feed you some local coffee (and maybe even some sopi, if you're lucky).

Very abandoned place, without any type of organization for the visitor where street art is confused with sloppiness. Eventually I would have gone in a less good period but I had difficulty even realizing if the place was open or closed temporarily or definitively

Worth the effort to find this attraction. Amazing collection of local art. A true hands on collection of recycled art and original thinking. Classes for locals, gallery and an on-going exploration of creative thinking. They need our support. As my guide said "Art is the sunrise in the dark." Don't miss it. A true highlight of Dili.
