Not much to see. It seems to be just an office building with some posters around. There are no exhibits per se, other than the posters. I don’t feel like I learned much from being here. I didn’t even know it was a former prison until I read about it online.

Former prison and torture center, now a museum. Moving but disturbing - very accurate and detailed. Well worth visiting but not for everyone and not for kids. Hard to find and the taxi drivers don’t know where it is so you’ll probably have to go with a guide.

The museum and other historic sites about the genocide are interesting, but our visit here made it real because of Rogelio. We went on a holiday so the building itself was shuttered but it mattered little. Because the photo boards outside with pictures of the political prisoners included pictures of one of the victims Rogelio. Meeting him in the flesh and shaking his hand made me tear up. When you actually touch somebody, its much more real than just seeing pics or videos.

A truly sad place and a blight on humanity. Cudos to the veterans for telling their personal stories and turning it into a museum so the story will never be forgotten

So many people travel to Timor Leste to better understand the fight for independence. Unlike so many countries where the message is more clear, it is difficult in Dili to see enough and talk to enough people to hear the message. Would definitely see whatever is possible such as this former prison to have some understanding of the battles.

This used to be a prison where political prisoners were incarcerated during Timor Leste's fight for independence. It is now a well laid out museum that charts the history of the independence struggle and also the actions of the international community that influenced the resistance and also the occupying army. Publications can be purchased detailing the findings of Timor Leste's Truth and Reconciliation tribunal.

An extremely well laid out exhibition of some of the recent history of Timor Leste. Only a $1 entrance fee and well worth a visit.
