So glad we went. Fantastic views. Great coffees. Like others I was unaware of the ww2 history. View to neighbouring TL and Indonesian islands 20 to 60 km away.
The cafe is not visible from the road, a hidden gem.
Intriguing seeing Australian and timor leste flags side by side.
Stairs from the road are very uneven, different heights, no handrails. So take care.

What an amazing place. I was unaware of this part of Australian WWII history. The very moving video about the Australian involvement and the close reliance on the local people was emotional. Beautiful views and very peaceful. Fresh juices and spring rolls, yum yum.

Spectacular views of Dili! at around 600 meters above the sea, cool breezes, lush jungle, birds, flowers, serene. What a beautiful spot. Best place to have a coffee and a toastie in Dili :)

This was a great little morning trip from Dili. We caught a blue taxi up to Dare, the driver waited for us and drove us back down ($27).
The museum is within the coffee shop and has panel with the information on them.
It wasn't open when we arrived but the worker arrived and opened up quickly. She put on the movie when we asked to see it - make sure you ask if it's not playing. The movie is particularly eye-opening and informative.
The coffee was good, the hot chocolates were OK. The view is amazing and the cafe has a good vantage point to look out over Dili.
The drive up is also fantastic for the views.
Overall, this took us about 2 hours to do, so it filled in a morning.

Lovely view, nice exhibition and lovely coffee. A very nice half day trip from Dili, 20 minutes by car. Or a beautiful mountain bike ride if you are more adventurous. Dare is also a good place to buy plants from roadside vendors on the journey.

It's a bit of a challenge to find it unless you go with someone who knows where it's at. Several panels on the walls with plenty of history. Some chairs and tables to relax, bring your own snacks and drinks. Great views of the city. Not much else to do there.

As war memorials go this is pretty average. It's very small and really is just a little bit of history regarding East Timor and the second world war. It is a tribute to the Aussies and Timorians that fought side by side during the war. It's quite a scenic drive to get there so it is probably worth the trip if you are free during the day.

The museum is located high in the hills overlooking Dili.
The museum was built in 1969 to honour and tell the story of the assistance given by the East Timorese to Australian guerillas fighting the Japanese in 1942.
The museum contain a small café which was not open during our visit and is part of a school which we did not visit.
It is worth a visit for you have some spare time.

I knew nothing about this episode in history. It was a very quaint and solemn little museum. It was also great to visit the school on site.
