Pulled over to checkout the Lavender Pit on our way down to Naco. A quick stop but definitely pretty cool. Didn't spend much time here but certainly worth a look.

It’s a cool thing to see but then that is it. If you have a few extra minutes why not stop. It’s free so that is the best part about it.

This is a short drive from town and worth seeing in conjunction with the Queen Mine Tour. Nice explanation of the various pits and how the excavation took place.

This was a big round hole with a blood colored lake at the bottom of it....we did not know
What there is to do there but we saw no way down to the lake that we could see, maybe put better signgs up to let othdr travelers know

Quick road stop. Read the signage, looked at the pit and back on the way.

If you're in Bisbee you should take a few minutes to look at this open-pit mine & read the plaques here. Kinda shocking to see the earth so disturbed, but this was the history of mining here.

Quite a sight! It had snowed the night before and early morning, so it was very cold. Though it is fenced all around, there are metal cutouts in the fence all along the trail so you can get great pictures. The information posted is very informative.

The pit can be an interesting place.
It is huge, and the colors of the layers of soil are interesting.
There is some signage to let you know the how and why of the pit.
It only takes a few minutes to read and to look at the pit.

this is a huge expanse of an old pit , the size is hard to imagine working in it. the colours are amazing in the surrounding layers.
