Good history of flight and air traffic history in the Douglas aa. A little bit of everything from the first international airport to a small 2 seater manufactured in Douglas to the WWII airfield to important aviation visitors. The price is free and a rep from the visitor center took us there on a Wed and opened it for us to visit. Worth at least a short visit if you have any interest in local history.

This is a place of history. Mrs Roosevelt, Lindberg and other famous persons presided over the opening of this first International Airport in the 1930s. There is a small aircraft on display that was made in Southern Arizona and has an interesting structure to learn how something was made

Not at all easy to find, then once you see it, very difficult to get into it.
Mind you that wasn't much of a problem because it was shut on a Saturday afternoon!

Got there when the museum and the hanger was closed, but had some good luck, an owner pulled up and invited us into the hanger, he did not have a key to the adjacent museum. The hanger proved to be super interesting to those that enjoy the history of flight, all sorts of unusual aircraft, and as a bonus an Owl or two in the rafters. If you get the chance to get to the museum don't miss the Russian bi-plane or the owls. It takes a little effort to see the museum as it does not have regular open hours. After a few calls, we found it is owned and operated by the City of Douglas. We talked to Miguel, the airport manager ( phone not published here as he was on the verge of a promotion ) who asked that we call to confirm our visit when we left our home almost three hours away.
Upon arrival, we called Miguel, and within minutes, he arrived and opened the museum for us.
WOW ..... what a collection of early aviation history !
They have a Trojan airplane on display that was made in Douglas in the 1950's. The museum has displays of American Airlines memorabilia, a wall of history of the Douglas Army Air Field with artifacts, an in-depth history of Aviation in Douglas, history of the Mexican Revolution and aviation in Douglas, Women's Air History, and also a history of Hollywood making films using the airport.
On the airport is an original Hanger that we asked to see. Miguel escorted us to the hanger and WOW again !
Inside is an Antanov AR2 ... this is the actual aircraft that was used in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull ! In the movie, it is shown in Pan Am colors which have been removed by the owner.
Again, it takes a little effort and patience to arrange to see the museum, but sure is worth it !
