Plaza Salcedo fronts the Vigan Cathedral and probably wouldn't be very noteworthy except that it is the venue for the night Dancing Fountains show.

Located between St. Paul Metropolitan Cathedral and the Ilocos Sur Capitol, it's hard to miss this big square, where people usually take a promenade, while their time away, take photos, etc. But what really attracts crowds to this place is its nocturnal fountain show, with dancing waters and colorful lights. Aside from this, I really don't find anything extraordinary or spectacular about it.

If you're staying for a night, this is a must visit plaza, awesome lights & music dancing fountain. You can also visit the Vigan Cathedral & St. Paul Cathedral Bell coz it's just a walking distance, also you can see the Ilocos Sur Provinvial Capitol, & Vigan City Hall from there.

This is like their version of a mini Luneta Park. Fronting the UNESCO protected Vigan Cathedral , it is flanked by several offices , fast food outlets , shops . It has its own dark history , its own Rizal monument , but gets filled at night with its renowned dancing fountains which is free to the public. For the sake of photo opportunities, just include this in the Vigan itinerary . One of the must see.

A must see in Plaza Salcedo the Dancing Fountain starts at 7pm. an hour of excitement, video-gramable as i say just like the instagram.

The Plaza Salcedo was used to be a sunken garden with the monument of Salcedo supposed to be interred in the monumental landmark. It has four wonderfully carved Grecian Urns to make the place more captivating. The sunken garden in the late Seventies was transformed into a lagoon and later on became a Dancing Fountain which lures foreign and domestic tourists to flock the city of Vigan. The old Map of Vigan which is also a part of the attraction of the Plaza Salcedo is now also converted into sprouting water fountain.

Salcedo Plaza is best visited during early mornings or late afternoons to prevent the heat from scorching your skin and so you can fully maximize your stay with its dancing fountain display. The plaza’s lagoon was landscaped in the seventies as a creative water storage area when fire occurs in the city. Vigan has previously suffered several destructive fires back then.
It is also noted that Plaza Salcedo was the execution site of Gabriela Silang, the first female warrior of the Philippine revolution in 1763 who was publicly hanged to warn other rebels against the Spanish rule.
In this plaza you will find benches and seats occupied by both fighting couples and sweet lovers obscured from view. 😉

Mooi verzorgd plein met een fonein in het midden. Voor de fontein ligt een landkaart van de Filipijnen. De hoofdattractie is toch wel de dansende fontein die elke avond om half 8 worden getoond.
