Security Sucks.

Security here is lacking big time, when we went there security stopped us and searched my wife’s purse and we went through a portable scanner where three security staff were working it. There was no detection when I went through, I explained to one of the security guys that your machine isn’t working and they asked me to go through again and again no detection. I explained to this guy you machine isn’t working to which he states how do you know it’s not working, at this point I showed him my ID and badge and explained that I was off duty law enforcement, he tells me the machine is not setup to detect my badge to which I replied your not understanding what I’m trying to tell you. One of the three understood and asked if I was wearing a sidearm to which I replied I never leave home without it, they then asked if I could show them and I lifted my shirt slightly to let them know I had a holstered sidearm and they again asked me to go through this portable machine and again no detection. I was trying to stay low key as I understand some people get nervous around firearms but the one was a clown and seemed to enjoy challenging me. He went on to explain to me I could not carry on the property, as I explain to him I’m carry under authority of the law enforcement officers safety act which is a federal law, he goes on to state this is private property and we the right to deny you the right to carry. This is 100% true, but it’s suppose to be posted in a clear manner, and it baffles me that you wouldn’t want certified off duty law enforcement on your property as long as we check in with your security and identify ourselves. This is the whole point that the law enforcement safety act addresses and is part of homeland security since trained officers are out there. I ended up leaving and will never attend here again, what’s funny is my large state agency is about to have a event there and is selling discounted tickets for the park. The one young black security officer was most professional and thanked me and offered to make a phone call to his supervisor to see if they would allow me into the park with my sidearm. I told him no thank you, I’m leaving this is ridiculous. I did call and leave a voicemail to security but never received a response, again it astounds me that you don’t want trained certified off duty law enforcement carrying in your park since it would be added security in the event of a tragic incident. I’ve gone all over carrying a sidearm and in such cases checked in with security and had no issues maybe had to sign a waiver but that’s it. Your equipment doesn’t work, you have some security that have issues with real law enforcement he probably was denied entrance to some department and enjoyed this interaction. Train your staff and revisit your policy and allow off duty law enforcement to carry, I have no issue signing a waiver. I’ve been a LEO over 20 years, I never know when I will come across a former customer, I primarily carry for the protection of my family.

Expensive and not for senior citizens or those with walking issues

Mixed reviews. The park is huge with a lot to do and see and roller coasters that come close to what you see at Cedar Point. It's been well over 30 years since I went to an amusement park or rode a roller coaster but I wanted to just go and have fun. My issue is with Hershey Park everything seems to be about how much they can make off of people. $25 just to park your car to go to their park!! No handicap spaces available, even in the season pass parking area. They charge you an admission fee for you to come to their amusement park and spend money, but also an extra $25 to park before getting in? Greedy if you ask me. Over $5 for a soda at a machine or at one of the eating places like Subway Sandwich. You can pay about $20 and get unlimited drinks all day but you need to provide a cup or souvenir glass of your own. I know parks do charge higher rates and people expect to pay more for food there, but that is kind of high compared to other parks and zoo's I've been to. $18 just to rent a small locker for the day.. I road my first coaster in 30 years, the Comet, and it was my last. I've ridden and enjoyed the tallest and fastest coasters in the world when they came out in the 80's, 90's and Cedar Point's Millennium but I'm now too old and overweight with issues to ride any. The selection of coasters is great but I wasn't prepared for walking up and down through high and low points in the park. If you have issues walking or knee and ankle problems, consider renting a scooter but expect to pay a lot for them. You can get a line jumper pass for around $100 to $150 or more depending on if you want to jump the line for just one coaster or multiple coasters. I've never thought line jump or fast pass tickets were fair. Just one more way for a park to make a lot of money on top of the fees you pay just to park and get in. The lower income family who saves all year to be able to take their kids here on a one day trip once a year and they have to wait 2 hours in line for one ride because others paid extra to jump in front of them. Not right in my book. Everyone regardless should wait their turn in line and not be so privileged to jump in front of everyone else because they paid an extra fee to do so. There are lots of places to eat with good variety, Also lots of restrooms throughout the park. I was lucky that it was overcast and a light breeze with temps around 74 degrees when I went, especially after I found out back home the temperature was 99 degrees. Some rides were closed but that was OK for me. I did enjoy the zoo although it was small and not what I consider a regular zoo. It is free with your paid park admission or you can pay just to go through the zoo and not the park. Personally, I'd say this is a great way to spend the day if you are younger and have kids or teenagers. Older folks in their 60's and 70's may not find as much to do, especially if they have handicap or walking issues. Check their website for any special rates before going. I saved $5 on parking and got a senior discount by pre-paying for tickets months ahead of time. Also check weekly for their hours. Just 2 weeks prior to my being there the park closed at 10pm. My day they closed at 7pm as it was later in the month of August on the 23rd..

My husband & I were there for July 3 & 4, 2023. We had a awesome time & the fireworks were a exciting display… We purchased annual passes. It’s by far the best deal for your $$. Lots of freebies & a free ticket for a family member. The parking for pass holders is perfect! We r handicapped but the preferred parking was the best. I have been going to Hersheypark since for 50 years! I highly recommend for couples & families…

One Fun Day!

Hersheypark is one of the best amusement parks our family has ever visited. There was really something for everybody when it came to rides. We started our day at the water park then had lunch at the Chocolatier, then went on rides.

The park was not that crowded that day, as most students in Central Pennsylvania went back to school earlier that week. My favorite ride was the pirate ship. It did give me some anxiety because I am afraid of heights. Anyone else, will absolutely love it.

At Hersheypark, you definitely get your money's worth. There is so much to do! It's only a 3.5 ride from Long Island and closer from NYC and NJ.

Love Hershey

I love Hershey. First time for my nieces. They loved it. We like all the roller coasters. But we love the candymonuim and wildcat revenge. Just wow wow wow.
Less than 10mins wait if even that on any of the rides.
Would say don’t go on skyrush so rough, will hurt your neck. Have no neck support.

Not as good as past visits.

We normally give Hershey Park a better review but to be honest we were somewhat disappointed for this visit. We went to Hershey Park over the Labor Day weekend, from Sept 1 - Sept 4 2023. What was most disappointing was all the rides that were not operating during our visit. I am not sure if this was a staffing issue or what but there were numerous rides not operating over the Labor Day weekend. Trailblazer was down the entire time we were there with no apparent reason. The Sky View was not operating nor was the ferris wheel. You would think over a holiday weekend like Labor Day, Hershey would strive to ensure all their family friendly rides would be up and running. There was never any explanation as to why rides were down. Trailblazer has been down for the past few weeks to a month. We constantly checked prior to going and it always said it was temporarily closed.

The Jolly Rancher Remix, we thought was a new coaster only to find out that it was simply the old Snake Eyes coaster reimagined, basically painted bright colors but still the same old roller coaster. The new Jolly Rancher ride was pretty cool. My wife used to love Fahrenheit rollercoaster, it was her favorite until she road Wildcat's Revenge and now that is her favorite rollercoaster at the park. She really enjoyed the new hybrid wooden and steel coaster.

I will say a plus is that Hershey Park makes sure there are plenty of refilling stations throughout the park where you can get ice and water to refill water bottles. That was nice, especially during the very hot days of Labor Day.

Overall, we had a decent time, not the best we have had at Hershey. We are season pass holders and have been for many years and while we have gone on other occasions and have witnessed rides shut down, this time it seemed there were more rides not operating than normal.

We plan on going back for the Halloween events as well as during the Christmas season. Hopefully they will be back up and operating all the rides we enjoy so much.

Very fun unique amusement park! We had a great and happy we went. A lot of great roller coasters and various non coaster rides all hershey themed.

Would Go Back Again

Had a nice experience at Hershey Park. It was an amusement park on a Saturday in August so we got what should be expected - it was hot, crowded and exciting. They don't take cash so make sure you have your plastic with you. Drink package was a good idea. Wish the lines to wait for the rides were covered so that there was shade. Overall, nice clean park and a good way to spend the day.

We went as a family of 5. Every ride was over 1.5 hour wait. We wanted to try the fast pass which was an additional $900!!!!! That’s on top of the tickets and food etc. $900 for fast pass tickets is insane. We waited on a ride for two hours to be told that it’s closed. The workers were rude. Everything was so expensive. We were able to get in 1 ride in 4 hours and left. We don’t recommend coming here. For what it costs your better off going to Disney. Very disappointed.

Hard to Navigate the Park

The abundance of food places and huge amount of rides is impressive. If we were younger, we'd have enjoyed them. However, finding our way around inside the park was frustrating. It's like a crazy maze, and the winding trails & steep hills were exhausting. Even using the map on the app and the map stations in the park didn't help much finding our way around. The skyway chairs were closed & the monorail had to close halfway through the day before we got on it. For us senior citizens, that left the ferris wheel & the little train as the only rides we could enjoy. Also, be prepared to walk up big hills. We enjoyed the animal park and Chickie & Pete's Philly Cheesesteak was excellent. Glad they had the free chocolate world attraction & we bought way too much candy which our grandkids will "inherit."
