We were so fortunate to experience a gorgeous day - of course this is a must do must see - this is an iconic place for Pittsburgh.

We tried to get here and had no luck finding access to it. I suggest you ask at your hotel and maybe they can tell you the best route.
Same problem with the Fort Pitt Museum.
No signs either.
Very disappointing.

My husband and I were retracing some of the activities and travels of my ancestors. My g*grandfather was a Ranger during the 1780's, guarding the western frontier. He knew Fort Pitt well. The Fort Pitt museum has some very interesting narratives of the life and times of people at the Fort and the impact of the French and English struggles for power in the area. It is well worth a trip. The park itself is very nice on a sunny day. The only remaining blockhouse from the period is a story in itself.

We were in a hotel we thought was near the Park, so we ventured out for history's sake. It looked like a straight, easy walk to the park, but it wasn't. Oh, yeah, you can get there, but it's a little more "round about" than you would expect, and you will have to cross some pretty busy streets. There's a lot of traffic down there, too. The park is pretty cool for walking along two rivers, relaxing, and enjoying the view, but just know that everything around is very busy.

I went to the Point State Park and it was absolutely awesome. I got to go to the welcome center to get my state park stamp and I was able to explore the park. Everyone there was very nice and the park was absolutely beautiful being able to see the 3 rivers flow into one. I highly recommended seeing it when you visit Pittsburgh.

Pretty fountain and great views of the water/boats/etc. There is also a stone outline of the old fort and a few plaques to read. Unless you want to have a picnic there or people/river watch for a long time, 20-30 minutes is adequate. There is a lot nearby that charges $10 to park, so try for street parking if you can. The park was nice when we were there in the afternoon, but not sure if I would feel as comfortable there at night.

This park sits at the confluence of the rivers. It offers fine views, but is also a nice place to take a walk in the middle of Pittsburgh.

Point State Park sits at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers, and it also marks the site of Fort Duquesne, an important location in the French and Indian Wars. The outline of the fort is now a lovely green surrounded by walkways and trees, and it's a perfect place for a stroll.

The state park is very close to downtown and provides great views of the rivers and downtown. The fountain makes for some nice pictures and if you enjoy history, the outlines of the old forts are worth a look. We would recommend the walk if you are in the downtown area. The bridges that cross the river have nice pedestrian walkways allowing for safe crossing on busy highway bridges.

What a landscape. Stand witnessing the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers, forming the Ohio River. Iconic Fountain adorns the peninsula. Bit of cleanliness issues but a great park maintained in the city. Enjoy the cityscapes and water.

100% FREE parking nearest to Point State Park in Pittsburgh, PA?
I would rather haul a bicycle, park my car half an hour away and bicycle to the park then pay a SINGLE penny to these government mosquitoes and property vultures who are trying to suck my money dry.
I worked hard to buy my expensive car and I didn't do that just so I can be penalized for buying it.
Is there a playground in this park?

The park does not have swings or slides. However it does have an educational and historical spot where Fort Pitt once was and is now a museum. The park is vast so if you bring a soccer ball, frisbee, baseball gloves and a ball, there is room to play any kind of yard activities you would enjoy and would need space. Also keep in mind that just a short walk across the bridge, there is Carnegie Museum which has a very large children’s activity center. Also within the city (short walk from the park and during the summer), PPG Plaza has fountain area that children can enjoy and run thru to cool off.
During major events in Point State Park there are always activities set up for children/kids to enjoy.

Point State Park is within walking distance of all of the North Shore and downtown hotels. The Fort Duquesne Bridge walkway from the North Shore ends within the park, or if you take any of the "three sisters bridges" into the city (Roberto Clemente, Andy Warhol, and Rachel Carson) the park is approximately 2, 4, or 5 blocks to the west.
