Museum was very interesting on every floor but we especially enjoyed the sports floor!! Being a steelers fan since I was a kid I loved sharing the history with my son. And reliving moments in pirates & penquins history was fantastic. Super spot not to be missed on family trip!

Lots of great memorabilia in the smaller museum within the Heinz Collection. Golf section contains several Arnold Palmer items, and a mini golf hole featuring Oakmont's Church Pews. Covers just about everything you can think of from football, hockey, to rowing.

They have so many memories from all of the sports. See superbowl rings. Trophies are great. Old uniforms. Pens pirates Steelers and all sorts of other sports like tennis

Pittsburgh is the City of Champions with 6 Super Bowls, 5 World Series, 3 Stanley Cups, Olympic Metals as well as Bocce ,Racing , Boating , and even Marbles Championships.
The museum is open 10-5 361 days a year.
Great place to visit for all ages. Over 70 interactive exhibits.You can throw a football thru the iron curtain, golf on putting green, ride a sports car if you have pennies, pose as a hockey goalie making a save, try on super bowl rings, compare you footprint to an NFL football star, make an Olympic metal for yourself and lots of other fun interactive exhibits.
Enjoy the 2 story six screen theater and be part of Pittsburgh's most exciting sports events moments. It is really exhilarating to be in the theater experiencing some of sports most famous moments
See exhibit of 1,000 baseball cards if you are a collector.

Lots of champions were born or played in Pittsburgh: Johny Unitas, Joe Montana, Suzie McConnell, Roberto Clemente, Willey Stargell, Dan Marino and many others.
Really fun to visit and very informative for people living in Pittsburgh and western Pa and visitors from USA or any where in the world.

I have mixed feelings about the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum. On the one hand, it is quite interesting, presenting people and sports both well known and not so well known. Sure, it has exhibits on the champion Penguins, Pirates and Steelers, but it also has exhibits on such things as Celtic Football, which was previously unknown to me. The problem is that many of the exhibits are very poorly labeled - particularly the photographs. For example, near the entrance, there's an enormous photo as part of a wall mural. In it is Terry Bradshaw flanked by two Pittsburgh Pirates, one of whom I recognized but couldn't name, while the other I did not know. If there was a label anywhere in the room for that photo, I never located it. Near the exit, the photo appears again, but this time the person to Bradshaw's left has been cropped from the picture. Here, there is a label, so I learned that the person to his right (the one I recognized) is Willie Stargell, but since the other man was cropped out, I still have no idea who he is. And, if he wasn't sufficiently famous to appear in the cropped photo near the exit, then why would he appear in an even larger photo near the entrance? And why not identify him? It was odd.
Similarly, there is an exhibit on Olympic swimmer Lenore Knight, and near the top center of the exhibit is a large photo of her and two other swimmers in a pool. Again, I could find no label at all for the photo. I could recognize her from other photos that were labeled, but I have no idea who the other two swimmers are. If they aren't worth identifying, why bother to display a photograph of them?
Because this museum is located within the Heinz History Center, which is itself worth a visit, admission is included. So if you plan a visit to the Heinz, by all means tour the Sports Museum. Just note that you may be frustrated with the exhibit labels. I don't know that I would recommend paying the admission solely to view the Sports Museum.

Located inside the equally excellent Heinz History Center, this wonderful museum pays homage to the best of Western PA sports. Covers football and baseball very well, not much for hockey and other local sports but definitely worth seeing for any sports fan.

This was a great place to spend time. Lots of displays covering most sports and sports heroes in the region. It's attached to the John Heinz History Centre so hand in hand it's a great place to spend a few hours.

This Museum is a must for any sports fan. It has lots of items from Western Pennsylvania Football and baseball. I was very disappointed in the hockey selection there was nothing. Football and basball were each an entire section of the museum but the hockey section was a hole in the wall. They should really consider adding more hockey membrobillia as the Penguins have rich hockey history. It was still a fun few hours for the sports fan I am even though hockey is my favorite sport.
