I paid too much to get a bottle of macadamia oil that leaks. There is no way I can take this back home and give it as a gift. Very disappointing.
I will have to toss it out.

Waste of time to visit here. They used to have a really good show, but they no longer offer it. Now, all you get is to buy overpriced Macadamia nuts and other assorted "trinkets" We used to visit this place to see the show and buy expensive mac nuts. Now there is no show and the mac nuts are way over priced. No value here. Keep driving up the Kam Highway North for a better experience.

We went in there with our group, had some samples of Kona coffee and macadamia nuts, the lady who was helping us with sampling was so lovely and encouraged us to try different flavors. We bought some coffee beans and nuts lovely environment and we liked the products. The problem started when we walked into the jewelry shop. Before we got here, our local tour guide (who is in his mid 60s, born and raised here done and through) just told us try to haggle at the jewelry store because they can be a bit expensive and if they are doable they will do it for you if not that’s fine. My partner found a small ring made with Abalone shells (we call them Paua) and wanted to buy it so we walked into the shop and there was this young girl with dark hair, black dress standing there we approached her and asked in a very friendly way if she could give us a better price. She literally looked straight at me for good 3-4 seconds and said “I don’t bargain.” I said ok cool, that’s fine it was worth a try. Then she said it’s rude to ask that and it’s not her culture doing that. My partner who is a native New Zealander Māori at this point jumped in and said “we also have this culture called Manaakitanga and Tiakitanga in my culture. We make sure our guests and the outsiders feel welcomed and comfortable, I don’t feel any aroha from you. Are you okay??” Then she calmed down a little bit but still running her mouth and tried to preach us how we shouldn’t say those things and that’s rude etc. I said you really shouldn’t get offended from someone asking you a question I wasn’t personally attacking you or anything and she was keep telling us to tell whoever told us to haggle that’s not how we do it in Hawaii 😂 we didn’t want to argue so left the shop after we purchased the ring but it pretty much ruined our whole day and probably the whole experience we had in Hawaii for the whole week, until her we only met these beautiful friendly people with full of Aloha. I don’t think I can recommend this place to anyone purely because of this experience.

We stopped as part of the North Shore Surf Bus tour, and it was really cute! The coffee and nut samples were really good, and I purchased a few cute souvenirs. Everyone was nice and it was a fun stop.

Aloha, Tropical Farms, the Macadamia Nut !!! Un incontournable à Oahu.

We stopped here on our tour of the North Shore. The Macadamia Nut farm is lovely with nice scenery. In the store they have samples of all the different flavoured nuts that they sell. We bought some bags to take home as gifts. There was an area out back where you can try your hand at cracking the nuts. Coffee was also available and the gift store had interesting souvenirs for sale.

We went there to shop for presents to bring back home. The guy on the register was so patient and very accommodating. He even gave us free boxes of chocolates when we hit a certain amount I guess.

There are a few little businesses at this premises and this review relates to the sale of jewellery in the corner section near the free coffee samples only. I was there with my mum (in her 70s), who has some health and mobility issues.
She was standing looking at the jewellery display and I was right next to her when the woman at the counter grabbed her right hand, pulled it towards her and opened the case and started putting rings on my mum's fingers, talking so quickly I could barely understand her, and saying "relax, relax" while trying to get the rings on my mums fingers.
This "sales" method is absolutely disgraceful and these people should be avoided at all costs. I had to be very careful about how I spoke to this woman because I didn't want to cause a scene, but they deserve none of your money. There are plenty of places on Oahu to get your jewellery and this is not one of them.

Along Kamehameha Hwy on the east side of the island. I was expecting to see a macadamia nut farm. It’s a store with a few other souvenir shops around it. You can sample kona macadamia nut coffee that’s very good. Different flavours of macadamia nuts to try also. Well priced compared to other stores we’ve been in the island. You can also find delicacies, hot sauces and more. Definitely check it out if you’re in the area.

Hi...we plan on being in Honolulu for 2 days..Sunday and Monday...in 3 weeks
1.do we need a car or can we get around with uber/busses/etc
2 We want to see both Dole ..tropical farm and other sites

A car would be easier (we rented a car by the day so we didn’t pay for parking) but I am told you can circle the island by bus.
I recommend the cultural Center and Pearl Harbor. We also did a catamaran cruise and snorkel.
We bought the city pass through groupon which brought down some of our costs.
Are the Macadamia nuts from Tropical Farms also sold in stores around Honolulu? If so, which stores sell them?

I did not see them. Their website may tell you more. The prices on their website reflect the prices in the store, which are excellent.

On average, how long do you think it takes to walk around and explore the Macadamia Nut Farm? We are debating whether to include both the Nut Farm and the Dole Plantation in one day. With the distance between the two locations, would it be possible to comfortably enjoy our time at both locations in one day?

You can absolutely do both, We did both on the same day and we had a great time. We spent about two hours at the macadamia nut Farm and about 2 1/2 hours at doll. At dole remember to get the whip with fresh pineapple, you won't be sorry.

Depends on the time of year how busy it is. When we were there they only allowed us to sign up half an hour before the scheduled tour, so i doubt if you can schedule ahead. If you get there early you could be first in line. There are plenty of seats.

Does the farm offer tours when you pay admission or do you have to book a tour with an outside agency? We will have a rental car and be in Hawaii for almost three weeks. We want to do as much as we can on our own to save money. Thanks!

There's no admission to the "farm". It's just basically a store where you go in and sample macadamia nuts. The tour is around back and you pay when you get there. It's actually a separate entity from the "farm". It's a great tour. You will not be disappointed!

We also rented a car, however there were tour vans in the parking lot, so you might want to check with the staff at the Macadamia Nut Farm as to which tours go there. I know they were very helpful about other things in that area when we asked. I know you will have a great time in Hawaii.

There used to be a guy named Cousin Vinney, who has a limo and gave organized tours. He was a surfer and if surf was up, so was Vinney. He worked out of the Imperial Resort, Waikiki. I don't know if he is still around, but you could Google him, or call the Imperial@Waikiki.
