First place where we went while visiting Santiago. Interesting museum. Crazy view from above. Recommended in the morning. Too hot afternoon

This is a cool area and you definitely need to go see it. I recommend going up to the top and walking down as there is more to see on the floors below.
There is also loads of restaurants around this area that you can get some good food at. They also rent horse & buggy rides if you are into that.
We just walked up and then walked back down. The cost was like $2 per person and it was definitely interesting.

Es el emblema de Santiago de los Caballeros y hace honores a su belleza e importancia en la historia dominicana. Se encuentra bien cuidado y se puede acceder gratuitamente. Recomendable para que locales y turistas lo visiten y aprendan un poco más del mismo.

No soy viajera. Soy misionera en Santiago. Conozco a todos estos sitios porque soy colaboradora de Google Maps. Escribo reseñas diario y subo fotos y vídeos de los sitios visitados. A veces soy contacta por turistas que ven mis opiniones en el Maps para acompañarles.

Very big city. Beautiful sites. Awesome hill top views from Camp David. Will return for sure.
Can anyone share the price you paid for a horse and carriage ride, if it was a recent visit to Santiago de los Caballeros? We just would like an idea for the price in the Monumento area; it would be helpful.

Excellent experience all around. The history is amazing and the views of the city from the observation platform were spectacular.
The kids were less impressed with the history and became bored quickly. From the top they could see a restaurant on the street called 212 New York Pizza and were obsessed with that. I told them, “You know where they have really good New York pizza? New York… where we live.” They didn’t care - and we ended up getting pizza.
This is definitely worth spending some time - whether you are in to the history, the views, or both.

DR had a very turbulent history - it was switched between the Spanish and Haitian rule, and had to fight for its independence several times.
This imposing monument stands proudly in the second biggest DR city.
It is dedicated to victims of the Restauration war against Spain which was fought 1863-65 after Spain regained DR shortly after its first independence from Haiti.
Entering the ground floor is free, while there's a couple of dollars fee to climb up. The elevator did not work, but it is a very mild climb via spiral staircase through several levels and on each is a museum, diorama and some info on that war.
Once on top there're great views of entire city.

Really nice Monument. 5 floors to the top. Each floor has museum displays in diarama format.
Elevator can take you to the top - 5th floor. Excellent outside deck on the 5th floor has panoramic views of Santiago.
I believe it was 100 pesos per person to visit. Located in a decent section of the city. Many nice restaurants located right across the street.
*Beware the stalkers that are big talkers that want to give you a BS tour for money.
Stay away from "The Mayor", who professes himself as the head of security of the area who just wants your money.

Szczególnie dla nas Polakow - takie miejsca jak to są i wazne i potrzebne.
Monumentalna budowla będąca centrum parku/placu i miasta w środku której znajduje się muzeum walki o niepodległośc Dominikany. Nieco pompatyczne ale pomysł z dioramami absolutnie trafiony: w sposob przyjemny i zrozumiały opowiadana jest historia (burzliwa) powstania i pierwszych lat istnieia Republiki Dominikany.
Wejście na wieżę (do muzeum) jest płatne. W środku czeka na Ciebei pięc pięter w eksponatami, a na samym szczycie wiezy zlokalizowany jest taras widokowy skąd rozpościera sie widok na miasto.
Warto zobaczyć.
