My sister and I hiked this out and back in 2 hours, minus the time we spend hanging out in the hidden valley. The trail is mostly all rocks and boulders so you must wear proper hiking shoes. There are definitely steep climbs up rocks and a few times you have to scramble, but I think if you are young and active you can do this hike. We went on a sunny evening after dinner and had no problems with midges or slippery terrain. From either car parks, walk down the hill and start toward the first of the two sisters. The trails goes in between the first two sister, as you're looking at the hills from the car park, left to right. Follow the trail and right away you will come across tall metal steps. That's the way! Enjoy!

Wow! This view is really worth the walk. It’s a long way up and you have to be careful on some parts, but once there the view is breathtaking. We stayed there a bit and enjoyed everything.
The way back going down is really smooth. We even saw some people swimming in the pools, that looked cool! Definitely worth doing!

Fantastic walk across to the Lost Valley - time taken for round trip was just over 2 hours. Reasonably easy if general fitness is OK.

C’est une très belle randonnée de 2-3km où vous pourrez admirer de nombreuses cascades et rivières.
Pensez à prendre un k-way !
En revanche, pas de panneaux pour indiquer la direction à prendre, le chemin est parfois difficile à trouver et nous mène à des voies glissantes… et pas de réseaux dans la vallée pour trouver le chemin à prendre.

I first travelled through the valley of Glen Coe when I was 8and always wanted to come back...nearly 60 years later it didn't dissappoint. Scenery and mountains are breathtaking

This was the best hike of my life and the best part of my entire trip to Scotland. The hike is rated as “difficult” on AllTrails but it was moderate. The difficulty is that some parts, you’ll have to almost boulder to continue going. The entire “trail” is almost entirely rock and dirt, some parts of which are steps made out of rock—it was so beautiful, unlike any hike I’ve ever taken and far better than the dirt or paved trails we get in CA. Views are stunning from every angle the whole time, and the waterfall and creeks were breathtaking.
We set out on an overcast day and by the time we reached the Lost Valley itself it started raining. But, it didn’t last long and the return was not too perilous, even when all the rocks (and we) were wet. Round trip took us about 2.5 hours including a stop at the Lost Valley.
If I lived here, I’d do this hike every weekend. Honestly, it even beat Yosemite (Panorama Trail, JMT, etc.). In love!!!

The trail is well marked almost all the way, a few places were you can loose it but quickly get back.
The hike is well worth it once you cross into the lost valley
The water fall on the way is also a nice place to stop to catch your breath
Someone in a nearby parking played the bagpipes so it added to the atmosphere

Hi x do you have to be really fit to do this trek? I’m a larger person but want to give it a go

No, I wouldn’t say so. As with many walking routes like this, it’s more about a willingness to keep going when you get a bit tired! As long as you’re mobile and of normal fitness then you should be fine. Enjoy!

We will be traveling from town to town. Will it be safe to leave our belongings locked in our car while hiking? Suitcases, bags, etc.

If you go early, the Three Sister’s parking lot will be quiet. After 10-10:30 expect a lot of foot traffic through the car park along with tour buses. If you have something to conceal your bags, I’d say you’d be fine.

Hi All, We are going to Scotland at the end of May and I would love to hike this trail, but we have my 10 years old daughter with us. Can we do it with her? Just to say we are not very experienced hikers.

There is some scrambling up and it is a steep 355 metre ascent-plenty of places to rest just make sure you are not obstructing the path. There is a drop to one side where a water fall flows so as long as she is warned and told to keep away from the edge then no reason she could not do it. If you do it, there is no reason if you are walking fit you can’t do it, make sure you do not wear jeans - if it is wet they hold water and you need trousers that allow some leg movement- and I would advise sturdy shoes. Take water, food, warm clothing, whistle and torch. The route is pretty obvious - you do have to cross a river but there are stepping stones which should be visible unless there has been a heavy downpour. Little did I know I had tracheitis when I went up but I am a determined sort (ex military).
As the other reply says if you get too tired you can turn back, there were two girls I met on my way down- I gave them my pictures so they could say they had done it !
Enjoy!

Hi All, I would love to walk the Lost Valley Trail in two weeks but I would like to ask couple of questions.
I am not an experienced hiker ( I hiked only easy trails ) so I was wondering if this trail is suitable for people with little hiking experiences.
Does this trail require hiking boots or are trainers suitable?
is it dangerous generally ( steep gorges etc? )

Hi, I have walked this many times and although not a difficult walk you have to be prepared. Definitely need boots or something with ankle support , no one should walk in trainers as no grip and slip when wet. Also no jeans as they get too heavy when wet and cool you down.
This path is all rock and steep in some places, it does follow a gully and some parts need extra care. I'm not sure where you are from but if you don't know Scotland then have to advise you that the weather changes VERY quickly and the mist can descend in a very short space of time which can be disorientating. There is also a small waterfall/river to cross which it it's been dry is no problem but can be quite full of it's been wet.
I've heard some tour bus drivers telling folk they can easily walk it in 30minutes which is utter nonsense unless you run it.
There is also no phone signal so you should really carry a whistle. I don't want to discourage your walk just sometimes folk don't understand the weather etc and all walks in this area deserve respect.
If you have some experience then you should be ok. If you are unsure then there are local guides you can book to take you. It's well worth going so enjoy it.Glencoe is one of the most fabulous areas.
If you're staying in the area try and visit the Glencoe Lochan.

About an hour each way. The route is easy to follow. Although I wouldn't say it was well marked out, you'd struggle to get lost.

Parking is free but limited. On a nice day try to get there early to make sure you have a parking space.
