Tomato lake is a great local park great for picnics and there's a lot of birdlife, there's also a children's park and a great cafe and exercise equipment.

Tomato Lake was close to our airbnb in Rivervale. Loved going for a run around the lake. It's quiet and mostly shaded.

We arrived to Oats St. and we parked at the end of the 300 meters Scenic Dr. inside the park, but there is a car park at the beginning of this road as well. Near this car park there is a boardwalk across the lake. In the northern part of the boardwalk the lake is deep with two islets while in the southern part there are islets separated by very shallow water. In one of these islets there is an impressive number of Australian white ibises (Threskiornis molucca), which most probably have a nesting colony on it. The 1.6 kilometer trail runs around the entire lake and walking on it, due to the limited vegetation along the shore, it is easy to observe the waterbirds. We saw a few species: black swan, Australian shelduck, Australasian grebe, Eurasian coot and Australasian swamphen. The explanatory signs about the fauna of the lake also report turtles and snakes. Lake Tomato appears to be an evident compromise between the need to guarantee a refuge to nature and to be a popular place for recreation and relaxation for the inhabitants of the area. Barbecues with tables and seating, playgrounds, fitness exercise equipment and public toilets are available.

Love our daliy walks with the dogs. The park is also great for kids. Lots of play equipment and free barbeques..

How lucky are the residents of the City of Belmont to enjoy this picturesque birdlife sanctuary with walking paths, fitness equipment stations, picnic areas with tables and bbqs plus a coffee shop. Little wonder this location is popular for families, couples and weddings. Enjoy your own backyard folks!!

When I went to Kewdale High School many years ago I was amongst the year of kids who cleaned up tomato lake from the gross swamp pit that it was to the lovely parkland area that it has become. Nice one Shire ofBelmont for keeping it so lovely 😊

It gets quite busy most weekend mornings with family gatherings. Lots of kids on the playgrounds and using the barbeque area. A nice park to take a stroll and just enjoy the sight and ducks swimming around.

The council has very noisy music festivals in the heart of the suburbs, should be held at Wright st parks away from residential area. Also have run into funerals being conducted adjacent to the kids playground in oats street
