I was curious to visit the bar made known by the famous movie “The Godfather” but its notoriety does not justify a bill of €16.00 for a coffee (€4.00!!!) a canary or boiled water (€6.00!!!) and a cheap ricotta cannoli (€6.00) ... which then I wonder how it can ascertain a cannoli as much as boiled water! Even the table service was not enough to justify the bill! Tip: visit without consuming!!!

Too bad!
I have been attending Savoca since Mrs. Maria was still making her beautiful presence at the Vitelli bar.
And I always take my guests, Italians and especially foreigners, to visit this beautiful village and of course the Vitelli bar, the scene of some famous scenes from "the Godfather" by Coppola.
The other day, I accompany a couple of American friends to visit Savoca, but when we were about to enter the Vitelli bar, a waitress forbids us entry unless subject to a drink, sitting.
Meanwhile, I wonder if a bar, as a public place can afford certain discretions, then I think the waitress should do a training course in hospitality.
I will continue to frequent the town of Savoca with great pleasure, but I will keep away from frequenting the Vitelli bar and the little attention to hospitality that distinguishes its staff.

Savoca is a town with a very particular charm of just 1800 inhabitants. There, there is this small bar that came to prominence after Francis Coppola filmed some scenes from the movie The Godfather there. Photographs of these scenes are hung on the walls of the bar.

We were independent travellers as opposed to a group & were welcomed by the owner/manager. We sat outside & had granita & a beer & really enjoyed our visit. It is a bit chaotic in the morning with all the tour groups so if you can visit later in the day you'll have a calmer experience. And yes it is a bit more expensive than other places but you're paying for the history of the place.

Lovely little bar, but sad to say the service was awful. We were the only couple in here and the waiter completely ignored us. Lots of other people turned up and got served before us, then only bought us over 1 coffee after ordering 2. Then tried to change us for 2 coffees. After 25 minutes of waiting we got a second coffee. Terrible service, but as it’s a tourist trap they can get away with it and charge double.

I would stay away from this place. The prices are extremely high and I feel the food is garbage. Horrible customer service.

Relaxed bar with varied menus and drinks, I recommend the Tiramisu and Spritz which were wonderful and very well served.

28.09.2024 h 14.00 I rate this place negatively because we were greeted by a maid who should change profession, rude and uneducated to the point that my husband and I felt so mistreated that we left without consuming.

Hiring a car as in renting one for you to drive? If so I'd say easy. I did it a few years ago driving up from Catania (Aci Castello actually). We drove up SS114 along the coast somewhat to SP19 and then up to Savoca. Pleasant drive but you do go through a few towns. Depending on where you are in Catania, you might be able to take the A18 and avoid the towns and a much shorter drive time wise. Google map Bar Vitelli, Savoca and then you place where you're staying to get the route.

Hola, la verdad es que yo fui en auto pero estaba lleno de buses y combis de turistas. Te recomendaría preguntar en el hotel donde te alojes a ver cómo llegas. En auto es realmente corto el viaje. En el mismo recorrido visitamos Savoca y Castelmola. Espero te sirva. Saludos
