The crypt is a vast room half-underground, which contains the mummified bodies of about thirty religious and notables of Savoca. It is visited with respect and in silence. The guard at the entrance ensures the recollection of the place and that is very good. Photos are forbidden. Admission is free, but a donation of one room is possible for the conservation and maintenance of the place.

We went on a Sunday in February and before making our way towards Savoca precisely to visit the catacombs we went
called the number on their website to confirm that the catacombs were visitable. An employee answers saying that they were open until 5.30pm so we decide to leave. We arrive at the catacombs and find everything closed, we rang the entry door but nothing. I try to call the number and the employee answers again telling me that we had to wait because someone would come to open the door, we wait but nothing. To which I call again and he tells me that he tried to call his colleague who was inside the facility but unfortunately he couldn't contact him because his cell phone wasn't working. So I decide to call the number that was hanging on the door where the famous "colleague" who was supposed to open the door for us answers and tells me that it closed before the scheduled time because in this period there is little influx of tourism and who unfortunately couldn't come to open the door because he had business to attend to outside the town... I was left speechless and I actually think that the catacombs were never actually opened that day. We felt cheated and unfortunately I regret that sometimes these places of interest have to be managed by incompetent staff who are not capable of carrying out their duties but only capable of minding their own business.

la cripta non è tenuta al massimo dei suoi fasti, sicuramente è già molto sia stata ripresa e ora sia accessibile. Regala un salto indietro nel tempo, sicuramente da visitare si si viene a Savoca

Bellissima da vedere.. vedere i personaggi della borghesia e gli abati.. frati del 1800 mummificati ( poiché per loro era come fermare il tempo farsi mummificare all epoca) è veramente qualcosa di suggestivo.. consiglio vivamente da vedere.. ingresso gratuito ma giusto lasciare una offerta .. ne vale la pena.

Difficult to rate a visit to a crypt containing the mummified bodies of wealthy former residents of the little town of Savoca but I will award 4 stars!
What can you say? The crypt is not as big as some, so for those wanting a high body count, potentially disappointing. Also the state of preservation was not quite as perfect as one might hope for. However, it is churlish to complain about such matters.
Whether the crypt was fully open was difficult to tell since we were greeted with a sign inviting us to summon someone to open the gate. This all happened quite quickly so whether this was the standard routine or not, I cannot tell. We also visited the (rather unspectacular) church above the crypt.
No admission charge but a request for a donation.
What can you say? The crypt is not as big as some, so for those wanting a high body count, potentially disappointing. Also the state of preservation was not quite as perfect as one might hope for. However, it is churlish to complain about such matters.

Una experiencia diferente en Savoca ,fuimos a recrear los paisajes de la película El Padrino y encontramos que en el mismo pueblo tienen la Cripta con unas 15 momias de monjes y nobles de la zona ,se entra pagando una colaboración que incluye la visita a la iglesia.

Una cripta con salme mummificate che ti fanno fare un salto temporale. Ingresso gratuito, con donazione facoltativa in uscita. Meriterebbe un biglietto per valorizzare e promuovere l'attrazione artistico culturale.
