Unique experience of this Hotel in Sariwon. The special issue about this hotel with the name 3.8. is: that you can wish when you want to have water in the evening and in the morning 😊 The supply of electricity is regulated by generators, because the network broke down regularly. The 3.8, hotel was variously visited by Kim Yong-il, correspondingly large is the worship cult here in this small village. Cleanliness and friendliness was also never an issue and you feel despite water problems, etc. probably here.
When you enter this hotel you will be entering a 1960 communist style hotel. No atmosphere at all. Friendly staff however. The room is better than you expect after the first impression when you enter the hotel. Clean, a small balcony and because of the balcony door (with a screen door) you can enjoy the fresh air. Electricity is only available at certain hours and you need to tell reception in advance when you need hot water to shower. Simple but good diner with different dishes (mostly cold). Breakfast is simple but served with a smile.
The room surprised me as it was really a suite. There was a separate bedroom and sitting area which were comfortable. The bathroom was large and had a Japanese style toilet with all the requisite options in terms of heated seat, washing options etc. electrical system was fine. Breakfast was good with the food more towards a Western palate. Dinner was also reasonable.
I stayed here for one night in September 2013 as I was on the way from Haeju to Nampo. Hotel was very good for North Korean standards. Spacious room (but poorly lit, as everywhere in the DPRK). Bathroom was a bit of kitch due to its yellow marble. No problems with water supply. I had dinner at the hotel which was good and the breakfast was o.K. The staff at the restaurant was charming. And the man at the reception was helpful as i wanted to have a local beer and the Hotel shop was closed. So he jumped over the counter to get me a beer.
