This hotel is disgusting, please don’t come here, it is not worth the price, the food is even worse. JUST STAY AWAY!!! Everything they claim on their website is false, there is nothing here, nothing works, I had to leave the hell.
This is a painful review to write more so because I have repeatedly raised my observations and complaints to the management of this hotel without any discernible improvement. I first stayed in Citilodge Abuja in 2011 but had to cut off my stay to move to another hotel when I could not stand the poor service there. About 3 weeks ago, I was to be in Abuja with some family members for a wedding and decided to give the place a try again. About a month earlier I had stayed at Citilodge Lagos and had a fair level of service. I went online to its website to make a reservation. The online booking form did not work. I then completed the online contact form in which I indicated that I wanted to reserve the Penthouse for 2 days. After waiting for over 24 hours without any confirmation of my booking, I called the telephone numbers stated on their website. A number of these numbers were not working. I finally got through to a particular number (+2348056830204) which turned out to be the Citilodge Lagos office. I thought that at last I would get the help I was looking for. It turned out to be even worse. Even though the price of the Penthouse in Citilodge Abuja is half the price of that of the Lagos hotel, the reservation agent gave me the price of the Lagos hotel for that of Abuja. It was only after I insisted that she cross check or escalate to a supervisor that she did so - admitting that she was not aware of the price differential! The next day (2 days later), I called again and a kind gentleman booked the penthouse for me. Given that it was the "Penthouse" I got everyone on the team was envious. I was so looking forward to our short stay in Abuja away from the hustle and bustle of Lagos. In fact other members of the team canceled their hotel reservations because they planned to also stay at Citilodge. We got to the hotel and to our disgust, the room I was given was not the Penthouse but another with two interconnecting rooms. The room was large but threadbare. The furnishing was in poor taste. The finishing was mediocre. The rug looked dirty. The toilet was...lets forget it. For the price I was paying (N20,000/night, about $122), this was a rip off! I demanded to know why I was not given the Penthouse and I got a lengthy explanation about the room being in need of some repairs, etc. I reminded them that they could have informed me before I arrived as I had been in touch with them the day before and even that morning. The Citilodge team kept apologizing and begging me to stay. However my team were in no mood to listen and we eventually left to a more appropriate and more befitting hotel that cost even less. The Citilodge team pleaded with me to give them another chance during my next stay. They seemed sincere about turning things around. They seemed genuinely appreciative of our feedback. The next weekend I had cause to return to Abuja and I called Citilodge again to give them another opportunity just as they had requested. Of course the usual promises were made. It was a business trip and I really wanted a place I could rest and work. As usual the quality was not at par with what should be. What really pushed me off was that all through the 2 days I stayed there, the internet did not work. The front desk kept promising that it will be fixed the next day and then the next day. Needless to say I was glad to leave the hotel. The staff were nice but can improve on their level of professionalism. I am also disturbed about how poor the facilities and services are at Citilodge Abuja as compared with Citilodge Lagos. More troubling is the justification the staff give for the poor state of affairs at Abuja - "that's why we are much cheaper". Is this not supposed to be one brand? I hope the team read this review and do something tangible about these pertinent issues. My advise to you is if you must stay at Citilodge then stay in Lagos and not Abuja. However if quality and service and internet does not matter on a trip and you need a place just to lay your head in Abuja then go right ahead. I hope this helps.…
