Upside: (1) Rooms - Fresh and clean. Hotel rooms appear to have been renovated recently, and were more attractive design wise than I would've expected from a Holiday Inn Express. There were already some signs of wear & tear, though (2) Location - Nice park with lake opposite hotel. However, some tourist areas (e.g. West Street) are around a 20 minute walk away (3) Breakfast - Included in room rate, and offered a decent selection of Chinese food and some Western options (4) Gym - While tiny and basic, the equipment was well maintained. The presence of a gym was unexpected for a hotel of this category
Downside: (1) HVAC issues - Two rooms were too warm, while the other, while comfortable temperature wise, had a slight noise from the air-con vent noticeable at night. Hotel management were very apologetic, but were unable to resolve the issues immediately. Opening the windows would cool down the rooms, but also allow in traffic noise
This hotel was located in the heart of old town which was one of world culture heritage sites. Go to the main temples by 15 minutes walking. Breakfast with a variety of local cuisines was very great. Free face washing cream and makeup remover was provided in the room.
