A credit card is required to secure a reservation, but is not charged. On arrival, I was charged the agreed cost of the room for the night.

One of my male colleagues walked it no problem but not advised for female.

We stayed at the Rodeway two nights and walked down to LA Live each night. We encountered no reason to be concerned in terms of people or perceived risk. However, the walk down Olympic is past some buildings that are not well maintained. It is a commercial area and Olympic has normal traffic for a main street so the area is not without activity. It is only a few blocks so it is not a real long walk. There is also a city bus stop about a half a block or so from the hotel...$1.75 per person.

The area is more of a visual concern than real. We walked both ways in the later evening. My wife and I are both 68. We encountered no people or issues that caused concern but caution is always the rule. It is a short walk because one you go under the freeway you are at LA LIVE and activity. The bus stops in the next block from the hotel and costs only $1.75. Olympic is a main street with constant traffic as well. Go for it.

BEWARE!!!! NEVER leave cash - MY CASH DEPOSIT was held hostage and 3 MONTHS later the manager Azad has not felt the need to contact me. Stayed here multiple times, for several days. NEVER put a cash deposit down for incidentals - but my credit card was not working. after a 3 night stay in Sept 2014 i left as usual never remembering to go by lobby to reclaim my 100.00 cash. A few weeks later i called, given the cold shoulder, left messages for Azad Mgr. NO REPLY, instead i get an emailed and COOKED receipt showing 3 nights paid in CASH CASH CASH - but how interesting… NO CASH RECORD FOR MY CASH DEPOSIT FOR INCIDENTALS!!!!! STAYED AWAY from this place since, and will never return. Have reported it to: IRS, Chamber of Commerce, and Police AND CHOICE HOTELS. This franchise MUST BE INVESTIGATED! The reputation of "CHOICE HOTELS" IS AT STAKE! Safe in the room? Wouldn't trust it if they steal your cash at check in!!!! Sad that I loved to stay here and always did - referred people, and spoke highly of the property as "home away from home." The housekeeping staff is more honest than the management/front desk. Sad and hurt by the lack of responsivenss OR CARE. Was 100.00 of my cash worth it to you?!?!?
