Configuration of room: sliding barn door with glass insert separates bathroom from bed area. If you get up at night, need to turn on light, it shines in eyes of sleeping people in bed. Asked for a nightlight but they didn't have one. Also smoke detector positions so it shines in your eyes if sleeping, it lights every few minutes. Toilet seat lid fell off. Disappointing to have little things mar a new hotel. The only thing "hot" on breakfast bar was the coffee. There were vending machine type sausage egg cheese biscuits or burritos you could microwave. Very unappealing. One side of 4 slot toaster didn't work, so had to wait in line to heat up a muffin. The staff could have walked to a close WalMart and bought a toaster in 5 minutes! Very disappointing.
We had a very pleasant stay at this SpringHill Suites. As of January 2022, the property feels brand new. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and accommodating. I agree with other reviewers that the frosted glass on the bathroom is impractical. It provides a nice ambient glow during the day, but at night you can’t use the bathroom light without illuminating the entire room. Tricky, especially with kids. And the location of the TV is awkward when multiple people are watching from the couch and the bed. But overall, it’s a lovely property in a great location. We would stay here again.
The hotel is very attractive and new. Kenisha at the Front Desk was very nice and helpful and the other employees we saw were always smiling and greeted us. The breakfast buffet was very basic, prepackaged cereals, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, bananas, etc., as well as prepackaged breakfast burritos warming in a chafing dish. To be honest, we went down the street to First Watch for breakfast - highly recommend! The room was nicely furnished, comfy bed.... BUT there were construction boot prints in the shower and the wallpaper accent wall behind the bed had multiple fingerprints, smudged seams, etc. Didn't anyone do a walk-through when construction was done? The biggest negative is the layout of the room. You walk in and face the cabinet that has a mini refrig, mini microwave and Keurig coffee maker (with 1 regular and 1 decaf coffee pod - we joked about who got to be caffeinated in the morning). To the left (or right, depending on which room) was the sitting area, a nice fold-out sofa and a small desk set up. The problem is you can't see the TV unless you are in the farthest corner of the sofa. Although it is mounted on a slightly adjustable bracket, the TV is on a perpendicular wall, not across from the sofa. The TV is also a problem if you're sitting in bed - you have to turn from looking straight ahead (12 o'clock) to about 2 o'clock! Or you could just lay on the bed cross-ways to watch TV. About 3 feet from the foot of the bed is the large, frosted glass, sliding barn door to the bathroom. The door, while pretty, is a very poor design choice. If you get up in the night, you can't just close the door and turn on the light so as not to awaken your partner because light goes right through the door. Or you could just use the bathroom in the dark. While I realize there are supply chain issues, the hotel has been open for about 6 weeks and they still did not have any hangers. I was told "so sorry, they're on order." Seriously, no one could go right down the street to one of the many stores and maybe buy a few dozen until the "official" order does come in? And why did they choose the smoke detector that strobe flashes about every 5 seconds? The great black-out blind and curtains makes it wonderfully dark and then... Flash! We won't be staying here again.…
Although the room is very modern and clean, I have never had a room with the bathroom right in front of our beds….gross! As soon as you turn the light on in the bathroom, the whole bedroom lights up making it inconvenient when trying to sleep and someone needs the bathroom at night. The television is located at the end of the room making it difficult to watch. Whoever planned the design of the room was not very bright.
SpringHill Suites Winter Park is a new hotel that opened in November 2021. I had the initial pleasure of meeting Front Desk Agent, Shanita. She was engaging from the minute I entered the establishment. Moreover, she was knowledgeable about Marriott's products/services along with the surrounding Winter Park area. Every morning I was greeted with a warm smile and was consistently asked if I was enjoying my stay and if i had any questions/concerns. I would definitely recommend this hotel and advise connecting with Shanita upon arrival.
