Sina Guesthouse is a great place to stay in Com. There is a western-run resort in the area but staying with a local family, right on the beach is perfect. The room had a comfy bed and fan. The shared toilet and bath were basic but perfectly clean. And the owners, Robella and Edmundo are super welcoming. Highly recommend staying at this Guesthouse!

Sina Guesthouse is one of the many guesthouses one can find in the Com area. This family run business managed by Ms. Robela Mendes and her husband Mr. Edmundo da Cruz have been the meeting point for many backpacker and adventurer and over the last 10 years since Timor-Leste’s restoration of independence.
Sina Guesthouse is most known for its restaurant and great hospitality and impeccable kept 6 bedrooms and bathing facilities. Rooms cost 20$ per night please note that this price does not include breakfast.
The rooms by the beach are great, nice and cool while the 4 rooms further away from the beach can get very hot. All the rooms have Powerpoints, a fan and clean towels. The 3G internet connection in Com (using Timor Telecom) is surprisingly fast.
There are two bathrooms both with an Indonesian “mandi” and only one with a shower. There is a place just outside the bathrooms where you can rinse your dive and snorkelling gear, which is a plus for diver.
Breakfast at Sina is usually served when the guests wake-up and it ranges from noodle and vegetable soup, omelets and bread roll, to a more Timorese breakfast, caramelized breadfruit, cassava with a savoury Camias sauce, do tell Ms. Robela of any dietary restrictions, breakfast costs 2.5$ and includes copious amounts of coffee and tea, Cocunut water may also be requested for breakfast.
Lunch and dinners cost 4.5$, but the beauty of it is that you may, if you wish to, require specific items on the menu. This is a great place to stay if you are a vegetarian, do let Ms. Robela know you are vegetarian so she can get some of her fantastic organically grown veggies from her garden in Muapusso. Fantastic Bean soup, papaya flowers with water-spinach, banana inflorences, bayan leaves (amaranth). The usual lunches and dinners include vegetables, rice, fish and meat (chicken).
Mr. Edmundo da Cruz can organize boat trips to the many secluded beaches in Com where you can be there by yourself, and lunch can be delivered to you there alongside fresh drinks. Mr. Da Cruz also runs a series of nice track and bushwalking activities, which include a very long WWII track (which takes you all the way to the Portuguese ruins in Mehara), a track to caves used by the FALINTIL during the war against the Indonesians as well as great tracks for bird watching.
You can book a room here by sending a sms to 77378613 with a simple text saying “Hau [your name] hakarak booking kurtu [number of rooms] ba kalan [number of nights you intend to stay] hahú iha loron [date of the first night].
